Just to add a little more credibility to this Gov.walker.
Alittle while back Illinois raised the state income tax on personal on corporate, people thought it was the end of the world.

Wisconsin's Gov. walker, yep same guy, was in the Chicago newspapers touting that all business should leave Illinois ASAP and come to Wisconsin "where our taxes are lower".

Eventually someone tapped him on the shoulder and MAY have said" Uh, sir actually our corporate tax rates are STILL higher then in Illionos"

The next thing you know he's back in the Chicago newspapers now saying "bring your business to Wisconsin, I know are taxes are higher but I promise I wont raise them "

This guy truelly is a piece of work.
His only redeaming quality is he is doing more for the Labor movement in this country then we could possibly do ourselves

Yeah Yeah Yeah. They protested in NJ yesterday at the State House. Complete with AHinC Richard Trumka.

Howevah.......

Christie Coalition a Jersey Majority

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is locked in a stare-down with Democratic legislators over his plan to reform the state's bloated pension system. A recent Quinnipiac University poll suggests that the Dems may want to blink first if they value re-election.

The survey of 1,347 registered New Jersey voters finds they agree with Mr. Christie that state spending is out of control and that state workers should bear the brunt of spending cuts. A full 82% of respondents call the state's budget problems "very serious," and 64% favor cutting services instead of raising taxes to balance the state budget. Moreover, only 26% favor raising taxes.

It gets worse for the big-government crowd. Some 56% of New Jersey voters favor laying off state workers; 65% favor furloughing these employees; and an overwhelming 77% favor a wage freeze for those allowed to stay on the job. By more than 2-to-1, voters also favor reducing pensions for new workers -- an idea that, amazingly, wins 57% support among union households.

The survey also confirms that Mr. Christie has succeeded in drawing a political distinction between school teachers and the unions that represent them. While 62% of Garden State voters maintain a favorable opinion of public school teachers, just 27% have a favorable view of the New Jersey Education Association, with 44% holding an unfavorable view of the giant teachers union. Overall, a majority of voters now say that unions are playing a negative role in the state's educational system.

There's no guarantee that legislators will take the hint and enact Mr. Christie's pension reforms. But the Quinnipiac numbers suggest that if they don't, many of them will not be returning to Trenton after this fall's elections.

In response to jdc1244 Hey that is why we are free Americans. If you can do better elsewhere, go for it. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. These freeaken state union employees can't exist. In 25 to 50 years they will bankrupt any state government. Look at how many states are in deep financial trouble, and they are all union states. Glad you got another job. What was your old job, filling potholes.

What if a State Union-Employee couldn't get a paycheck because there's no taxpayers left to pay into the State Treasury?

Do the math...

If one out of every 5 or 6 state residents (working) is a state employee, and the average "tax due" on the bottom of the State's A1 Tax Form shows that you've paid/owed ONLY $4,000.00, and the average state employee makes an average $50k/yr., the math says you're only collecting $20K-$24K...you're short by $26K-$30K...

How much of a load do you expect the WORKING CLASS (NOT STATE-EMPLOYED OR THOSE RECEIVING GOVERNMENT PAYCHECKS/ASSISTANCE) to pick up in addition to what they're already paying?

How many more companies have to leave the state because the tail is wagging the dog?

Harley Davidson was getting screwed by the Democratic Gov. Doyle and his Democratic Pig-Trough-sloughing cronies and State Employee Unions for an additional $24-Million. Yeah...HD and their UNION EMPLOYEES were going to get shafted by the WISCONSIN STATE EMPLOYEE UNION-BACKED DEMOCRATS.

WHAT THE F**K IS WRONG WITH THAT ABOVE STATEMENT?????

This isn't about Unions sticking up for one another...it's about "FU! We're more important than the TAXPAYERS! Regardless whether they're Union-workers or not!!!"

Well, I don't care, one way or the other...they haven't been doing that great of a job (anyone throwing a shovel full of "hotmix" into a pot hole that's half-filled with water needs the shovel up side his head and not a pay-raise, let alone a guaranteed job to keep doing stupid chit...).

Cops, firefighters and EMTs...they need the proper pay and looking after...but even then, when some of them screw-up, they don't need forever pensions and "atta'boys" when they've done wrong and least of all, the same being given everyone else that happens to be on the government dole.

When the asylum is taken over by the inmates, no one in THEIR right mind is going to stick around and keep the looneybin open.

It just doesn't make sense.

Period.

They aren't all union states. My state is in deep financial trouble, and we are as far as you can get from being a "union state". Here, we blame it on illegals. In Wisconsin, simple minds figure all it'll take to put things right is to make those public employees lose their rights to bargaining. Here, we figure all it'll take to put things right is to round up all the busboys and ship them home. Jealousy based reasoning. Next theory.....

"Change it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fall that's all
But the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!"

Its amazing how many people could be convinced that it would be a good thing to shoot themselves in the foot.

I guess some people want to return to child labor,
7 day work weeks,
0 vacation days.
No workmans compensation,

The list goes on and on.

---------------------------------------

But there is more !!!!

Nestley wants to buy your towns water supply and sell it back to you in bottles.

McDonalds wants to educate your children.

Basically this bill opens the door to sell off all public assets to private corporations.

Good morning, Taco Bell University, How may I serve you ??

This shiznat just got real...

OpWisconsin

Press Release: #OpWisconsin
Dear Citizens of the United States of America,

It has come to our attention that the brothers, David and Charles Koch--the billionaire owners of Koch Industries--have long attempted to usurp American Democracy. Their actions to undermine the legitimate political process in Wisconsin are the final straw. Starting today we fight back.

Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin. Governor Walker's union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the sale of publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter how low, without a public bidding process. The Koch's have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill to eliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state's power supplies.

The Koch brothers have made a science of fabricating 'grassroots' organizations and advertising campaigns to support them in an attempt to sway voters based on their falsehoods. Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth and Citizens United are just a few of these organizations. In a world where corporate money has become the lifeblood of political influence, the labor unions are one of the few ways citizens have to fight against corporate greed. Anonymous cannot ignore the plight of the citizen-workers of Wisconsin, or the opportunity to fight for the people in America's broken political system. For these reasons, we feel that the Koch brothers threaten the United States democratic system and, by extension, all freedom-loving individuals everywhere. As such, we have no choice but to spread the word of the Koch brothers' political manipulation, their single-minded intent and the insidious truth of their actions in Wisconsin, for all to witness.

Anonymous hears the voice of the downtrodden American people, whose rights and liberties are being systematically removed one by one, even when their own government refuses to listen or worse - is complicit in these attacks. We are actively seeking vulnerabilities, but in the mean time we are calling for all supporters of true Democracy, and Freedom of The People, to boycott all Koch Industries' paper products. We welcome unions across the globe to join us in this boycott to show that you will not allow big business to dictate your freedom.

Well the states are in between a rock and a hard place, raising taxes is always a bad idea since government is not not creator of wealth just a money suck.

Cutting government sounds like a good idea.

As for the workers the gravy train is over now they have to get laid off and take cuts like the rest of us. The states should switch them all over to 401k's like the private sector. Pensions are a thing of the past no one gets those anymore.
