As for the workers the gravy train is over now they have to get laid off and take cuts like the rest of us. The states should switch them all over to 401k's like the private sector. Pensions are a thing of the past no one gets those anymore.

Quite a few people in the private sector might disagree that pensions are a thing of the past and no one gets them anymore

It would be more accurate to say the NON-union and the "alleged" self employed have no defined pension, nor much of any benefits at all.

As I posted earlier, you should aspire to come UP to "my" level instead of trying to drag someone DOWN to "your" level.

uh, before we do that, take a look at Somalia & read Hobbes Leviathan. No government sounds cool, until you actually think about it. Maybe something Voltarian, "the goverment that governs best, governs least"

My questions:

Why is it the people that cry the hardest about poor paying jobs and corporate greed get useless liberal arts educations and get into government welfare programs when they are truly capable of working? I have a useless liberal arts education so I can say it.

Why is the elephant in the room always ignored by the socialist agenda? Globalization. That's the real problem . Developing countries are ripping us off.

Another thing I don't understand is why government workers actually believe losing nothing is a viable option. Where is the money supposed to come from? Its easy to say the top 5% are the answer, who are already paying 58.7% of the total income tax revenue. States are also competitive with each other and happy to lure people and businesses away.

I would think the goal of international politics would be to get developing countries to catch up with us and become consumers, quickly, so we can quit declining to their level. We can also shrink our government to make it more attractive to do business here. What we can focus on is having the most skilled and educated workforce out there, who can also see through the political BS and elect good people. Greed is eternal, and there's no stopping it. This is a great opportunity or the beginning of the end. Taxing and spending so a government worker can retire at 58 with an income of 40k a year for the rest of their lives is not going to do any good.

Firstly I don't care what the private sector does, but the taxpayers are strapped so the public sector gets to take the hit. Firefighters and cops around here do better than the private sector people who have to pay there salaries, in some cases a lot better firefighters make a ton of money and all have second jobs.

I am just tired of writing that tax check so some police chief can retire in their late 40's after only 20 years and get full pay,($190k cost of living adjusted BTW) medical, ect for life. Than run out and get another job. As a taxpayer I don't want to pay for that anymore. If it was a private company and I was a shareholder I would complain just the same. I can name 3 cities in CT that are literaly having the economic life sucked out of them by oppressive taxes and corrupt wasteful government full over overpaid workers. Hartford, Bridgeport, and West Haven. West Haven has THREE fire departments, all independent and very highly paid. WTF NYC doesn't even have that, its not sustainable. In the real world if it was a company it would go bankrupt and have to reorganize, I don't see why governments shouldn't be the same. Bridgeport tried to go bankrupt 20 years ago but the courts wouldn't let them. In the mean time residents are getting soaked for $6k a year worth of property taxes on a $150k house, and people are fleeing as fast as they can. People can only be soaked for so much per month so as property taxes go up property values go down.

Don't get my going on CT, CT's economic policy for the last 30 years has been to punish the heck out of companies that either can't move or are to stupid to leave, and suck every cent out of them they can. We destroyed the firearms industry, that's gone, Sikorsky is well on its way to becoming a shell, Electric Boat is stuck so they will get soaked. That's why they are all going to TX or over seas. CT is a brutal state to do business in, unless your a hedge fund or an insurance company. If I had a business that was mobile I would sure has heck get out of this state.

This is nonsense, government doesn't create wealth, jobs and prosperity, it destroys them. Time to change this.

What does a State do when it has run out of money to spend?
Stay focused on the real issue here. The States cannot print money; they MUST balance their budgets. In Wisconsin, the choices to reduce spending are 1) reduce the benefits, or 2) cut positions.
Neither choice is ideal, but we do not live in a "Polly-Anna" world. Simply wishing something was so does not make it so. Is the Union position really that they would prefer to have people lose their jobs as opposed to the Union losing some clout?

That is the EXACT kind of BS the supevisors in San Francisco City Government tell you, and yet they THEMSELVES have NEVER done the job that they are highly paid to supervise.

God, what an awful memory you brought back.

Well.

You should go to the Academy, join the Department, and become the Chief and retire at 40. Then do construction then again, or become a really high paid "consultant" for a security company and a spokesman for the NRA or something, though with a Chief's pension I think it would be more fun to chase women when you retire, instead, it is what I LOVE doing and I bet YOU would too lol.

You have enough guns to equip a small militia, you don't take crap off people and you tell it like it is and you hate BS.

You would make a great Chief of Police IMO.

Dear Citizens of the United States of America,

It has come to our attention that the brothers, David and Charles Koch--the billionaire owners of Koch Industries--have long attempted to usurp American Democracy. Their actions to undermine the legitimate political process in Wisconsin are the final straw. Starting today we fight back.

Koch Industries, and oligarchs like them, have most recently started to manipulate the political agenda in Wisconsin. Governor Walker's union-busting budget plan contains a clause that went nearly un-noticed. This clause would allow the sale of publicly owned utility plants in Wisconsin to private parties (specifically, Koch Industries) at any price, no matter how low, without a public bidding process. The Koch's have helped to fuel the unrest in Wisconsin and the drive behind the bill to eliminate the collective bargaining power of unions in a bid to gain a monopoly over the state's power supplies.

The Koch brothers have made a science of fabricating 'grassroots' organizations and advertising campaigns to support them in an attempt to sway voters based on their falsehoods. Americans for Prosperity, Club for Growth and Citizens United are just a few of these organizations. In a world where corporate money has become the lifeblood of political influence, the labor unions are one of the few ways citizens have to fight against corporate greed. Anonymous cannot ignore the plight of the citizen-workers of Wisconsin, or the opportunity to fight for the people in America's broken political system. For these reasons, we feel that the Koch brothers threaten the United States democratic system and, by extension, all freedom-loving individuals everywhere. As such, we have no choice but to spread the word of the Koch brothers' political manipulation, their single-minded intent and the insidious truth of their actions in Wisconsin, for all to witness.

Anonymous hears the voice of the downtrodden American people, whose rights and liberties are being systematically removed one by one, even when their own government refuses to listen or worse - is complicit in these attacks. We are actively seeking vulnerabilities, but in the mean time we are calling for all supporters of true Democracy, and Freedom of The People, to boycott all Koch Industries' paper products. We welcome unions across the globe to join us in this boycott to show that you will not allow big business to dictate your freedom.

Here's a big burly Ironworker union member. He's calling out for public employee benefit reform. He's a Democrat! In New Jersey! one of the bluest of the blue states.
His union "brothers" ( what a farkin' joke) excoriated him a few years ago when he first brought this up. I remember banner planes flying over the beach saying impeach Steve Sweeney.
Say it ain't so Joe!!
