Wish we could do that for Congress. It would be a lot cheaper than having them in session.

If your not comfortable with that source, here's another one.

One-day rehiring nets former Chicago labor leader a $158,000 city pension - chicagotribune.com

A friend of mine retired from a state job in Texas after 35 years. He is drawing what I would consider a good but understandable and deserved pension.

He was offered a job with a county where he would work two years and then draw $65,000 in a pension from the county. He found this to be amazing so he looking into it.

It seems that his state employment can be combined with any other gov employment in Texas and he would then be credited with 37 years of service from the other gov branch.

He turned it down since he thought the whole deal sounded like a scam on the taxpayers, but he could understand why others might do it.

Seems to me he was just being smart. Where's the argument that success should not be punished?
From the linked article-

"Gannon, former president of the Chicago Federation of Labor, was able to take a long leave from a city job to work for a union and then receive a city pension based on a high union salary. That arrangement is allowed under a state law signed by Gov. Jim Thompson on his last day in office in 1991, according to an investigation by the Tribune and WGN-TV."
Governor Thompson was a Republican.

I don't believe you mean "we"; I think you mean "they"--meaning someone else who is not "Me".

You already have the freedom to send any extra money you wish to the federal government; it is not illegal to overpay.

I can't speak for him, but I believe that we, including me, need to pay more in taxes. Not very much more, but we are being undertaxed, IMHO.

You do realize that your comment misses the point, I hope.

OOH, those wacky republicons, just like them to turn a loophole into a law and then jump up and down and point fingers when someone other then them benefits.

The Chicago Tribune is a right leaning propaganda rag.
