Ain't that the truth! Saddam Hussein was starting to look like HE wasn't so bad after all . . . At least he was able to keep all those warring faction in his country under control, and THAT didn't cost us any American lives nor billions of dollars, either.

Worse than that, although you achieve one objective, assuming you do since the govt is so good at it's objectives, all you do is feed the heroine addict more heroine and get him hooked further.

That is my point. Some people think life is so simple. Fire the bad. Replace it with someone else. Things usually get worse before they get better. I'm betting on a bloodbath within the next 10 years. Sure, there is the elation that they got rid of a tyrant. Even from a Libyan perspective, I am not sure it is better than a major civil war. There are a lot of people who are united when it comes to getting rid of the Q-man. Does anyone believe they will be united now that the cause is gone?

Reminds me of an alcoholic who tries to quit because his wife will leave him, his son will get angry, the dog, the cat, etc, etc. Until he wants to quit for HIMSELF, it probably will not work and he will slide back.

According to reports cobbled together from CNN and the BBC.....

The Loyalist who were surrounded tried to make a break-out. They were able to break through the NTC lines and were headed out of town in a convoy. No direction was given.

A NATO aircraft that was circling overhead was notified about the convoy and that it was a Loyalist break-out. The NATO aircraft (or perhaps aircrafts) attacked and stopped the convoy and the NTC fighters went after it to take prisoners.

In one of the vehicles Q-Daffy was found with wounds to both legs. So far the type of vehicle has not been identified, but even if was an armored car it would not have stood up to the type of firepower your standard warplane could lay down.

He was then thrown into the back of a pick-up and was on the way to ???? when it appears he was shot in the head. I am basing this on the fact that the cell-phone video that was shown on CNN, which is the same as the one posted above, has someone who is yelling 'Don't shoot' several times. This is according to CNN anyway. My Arabic is a bit rusty as I have not used what little I know for about 25 years, so someone else will have to verify that. I am only writing what I have seen on the news.

Anyway..... There is a good chance that 90% of what I have just posted here will change later, but as of right now that seems to be the situation.

And.....

According to folks I know that were there during the 50's working in the oilfields.......

There are incredible Roman cities in the middle of nowhere, and there are tanks and trucks and even aircraft laying around in the desert that have been left there since WW 2. Many of these wrecks have been scrapped out for the scrap metal, but some are in the middle of mine fields that have still not been cleared.

There is a Tank museum in England that thinks it has the only running Tiger Tank in the world, and it was salvaged from Libya. I wonder how many BMW or Harley military bikes might be laying out there?

Libya will likely have a thriving tourist industry in a few years. There is a Roman city on the coast that is a big tourist draw, but since it is easy to get to it is not as natural as some of those further out.

I am going to brush up on my Arabic as there may be a few opportunities in the future for people with oil and/or pipeline experience in the future. Time will tell.......

How are you defining "few"? Not in the next 10 unless something miraculous happens.

IDK, it took about 5-7 years for many East European cities to become "touristy" after the Curtain fell. Most of the Soviet-era dictatorships may not have been as nasty as Gaddafi (Ceaucescu excepted), but they were a lot more organized and entrenched.

The miracle is already working. Upon conformation of his death the petrol prices dropped down. Now the war is really starting Who will control all this petrol. The Italians are front row contenders, they are very well positioned in Libya and have been for the best part of the last 100 years. Lets see what the British and the US will do about it.

Did the curtain fall as violently as this?
