The diesel S class is back!
The 16 year long drought is finally over! Mercedes now sells a diesel S class in this country again! I was looking at a brandy new silver one yesterday, it was fantastic!
Truly a fantastic car, I can't get over how a car that is larger, and a spaceship compared to my W126, plus its far faster, can get better fuel mileage! $100k though which is a bit to rich for my blood at this time. I'll have to wait until the low mileage lease returns start showing up and snag one for $50k or so. I bet I don't have to fight to get it to start in the winter either!

There was one in the local mall a few weeks ago. I *think* it was an S450 BluTec? My memory is sketchy at this point but it was the current generation S

Lets hope they fixed all the injector problems they were having in europe with these engines. MB's newer diesels have not been a model of reliability.

Strangely enough, I have no problem obtaining diesel fuel when needed -- I don't feel like a second class or lower citizen while doing so, either.

And I get first dibs after SwampYankee is done with it. My 1985 300D is just hitting its sweet spot now, so I should be ready for that 2012 in about 2037.

I bought diesel when I had to drive 200 miles a day. At that point, the mileage made it worthwhile. However, since that stopped, I don't feel it is worthwhile anymore for me, at least when you factor in the hassle. It makes fueling up the vette or the Harley a pleasure. Pull in, pump and go.

Quite often I see them in between gas pumps so it makes life harder to get to when it is busier.
