I am not sure, but the pilot did not appear to be wearing a restraint. Is it required? When it spun around he ended up outside the cockpit!

He was probably wearing a three point harness....
it has a single release point at the crotch...
so after the crash it is an instant release move to get out..
but he might have been stupid enough not to wear one..
almost got caught by that Darwinian Rule if that is true....LOL

Brian, LOL... his name was Greg...
But somewhere in his description the word stupid has to be added.... the idea of not knowing how big a space you have to put a helicopter and crashing at hover... beyond the pale...
Where were his ' spotters ' ? Probably taking videos instead of providing him with the information he needed...
It is not like he was being shot at....

.........you do realize that the average person is a moron...........??

Although, the necessary qualifications to become a pilot would typically rule them out of the group that includes "average person".

But, he's definitely not the brightest if he decided to hover and land within 10 feet of a fixed steel tower.

I have been in situations where I had less than ten feet in front of the rotor...and at a high hover....but I had a guy on the ground directly under the tree signaling me as to how much room I had...and they needed food and ammo at the time... it was on the side of a mountain... we kicked out the supplies and backed out far enough to swing around and leave.... some times you can really concentrate on what is important...

It's between $500K and $800K depending on age and condition.

But, you, Greg, can now buy it for less than $5K............

Nice little winter project..............
