Congrats, JP. Nice looking truck. It looks like the one my father bought my mother to tow their TT because he didn't want to drive around in a truck all the time. Hers is an '06 Z71, same exterior color but she's got tan leather with 2nd row captain's chairs.
They tow a 25' Keystone Bullet Ultalight tandem axle TT with it and it's been across country twice, drove the outer perimeter of the U.S. once and has been up and down the east coast several times with more trips planned in the coming months. The trailer is just shy of 5K lbs. loaded and they average 10 mpg towing with the 5.3L. She gets damn near 15 city/19 highway with it which was better than my '00 Wrangler by a couple mpg's. It's towed through the mountains and my father says it has held speed uphill and they've towed through Death Valley in the summer with the AC cranking without any issues. He's glad he bought it for her and she doesn't mind driving it. When it's not towing it doesn't get a lot of mileage put on it during non-snowy months.

I see you went ahead and bought it but I'll throw in anyway.
We have a 2003 Yukon XL and love it. One fuel pump and one wiper motor in 100K miles. Quiet comfortable ride and reasonable fuel economy for what it is. I've noticed that driving 55-60 delivers best fuel economy but that when you get to 65-70 it tends to come out of overdrive on hills which hurts economy and if you can run 75 it stays in OD and actually yields better mileage. YMMV of course. We get 16-17 on the highway (have seen 20), 14 pulling a 19 foot ski boat and 13-15 in (a very small) town. The AUTO-4 setting is ok for occassional slick spots but if you know it's slick or there's obvious snow issues, 4-HI is the way to go to eliminate the slippage in the transfer case that you get with AUTO-4. Also there is a specific GM fluid for the transfer case. I know many people with Starship mileage on a 5.3. I don't think you can wear one out.

I could be wrong but it seems a tad high, although you probably have already checked the book prices?. I would try to get it cheaper. The only problems that I have heard about are the rear ends, several in our area has lost its rear end, one in particular never hauled anything all hwy. miles. I'm not sure of the years but, but I have never liked the GM idea of running bearings directly on the axle shafts!. I would listed to the rear end very closely on the rack & on the hwy. test drive. Just my 2 cents worth! Other that this I like them, better fuel milage than a Ford IMHO

We've been relatively satisfied with the '03 Suburban LT Autoride 5.3 FlexFuel
But, we've had all of the above as far as issues, Cluster, mystery clunks, power seat failure (drivers) both front and rear blower motors, oil leak all 4 window motors and regulators were replaced under warranty before 100k, front end play etc. sidebar, it was always incredible for the long haul and towing! oh, be careful of the front fog lamps, they sit low, and like to pack with snow and snap out or lose their lenses, seen all across the board in silverado/sierra/tahoe/suburban/yukon/escalade and I agree, Auto-4 option is damn near useless IMHO

We found out last night that somewhere between the dealer's and our house, the driver's side window motor decided not to work anymore...it only clicks when the button is pressed. The dealer has agreed to repair it with no cost to us, so the only thing I have to do is drive the 50 miles back to the dealer and wait...there goes a Saturday.

you can go to any GM dealer and they can print you the line sheet, this will tell you just what options and equipment it has, also it will tell selling dealer.you might even get lucky and get a service report from day one like i did on my 05 sub.but it is limited to service work done thru a GM dealer only.
