Our house cat has developed an issue that has the wife and I puzzled.

Three yr old Female-spayed-100% indoor-perfect health.

4 days ago she got on the couch and urinated/defecated on a newspaper.

Today she urinated on the couch.

The cat has never demonstrated this behavior until now.

The only thing that is differant in the house, is that last week I discovered that birds were sometimes coming thruogh the window and eating her food.

(Singapore homes do not use screens)

So, during the day I have been closing the window.

Anyone ever experianced this behavior from a house cat.?

Possible sign of a bladder infection or worse. is this an outdoor cat?

Seriously, something has disturbed her, and she is reacting. Did closing the windows make a difference?

Totally indoor cat.
I should add that this cat is like a child to my wife, if something were to happen to it..I suspect my wife would be completely devastated.

We had taken the cat to the vet recently for routine exam..everything checked out A-OK.

HaHa.

Closing the windows has stopped birds from eating her food,its been 2 days since any birds have come in. But still today she urinate on the couch again.

I also suspect that the birds freaked her out, and this behavior is residual effects from that.

Your cat is probably trying to tell you she needs help. When a cat shows a sudden, pronounced, and more than 1 or 2 day long change of behavior it is worthy of medical attention. Take the cat to a vet. The vet should test for UTI (bladder infection), do a blood draw and a physical exam to look for lumps, cuts, claws that have become so long they curl into the foot, infections in the mouth or bad teeth, ear infections, etc.

Also tell the vet about the birds. It’s possible that the cat was pecked by a bird and they carry diseases…

Have the poor little thing checked for Diabetes, we had cat did the same thing as your cat and it had allergies and Diabetes.

Surely do hope you find an answer to the problem, Chilcutt. I have had my kitty for four years now and love her to death - although she is not a very affectionate cat. We have had dogs for 40 years and I really enjoy the change. Has your cat been using a "litter box" has her regular depository? Ours does but if it is not spic and span she will try to water the plants in pots on the floor. Really hope you come up with a "good" answer, Buddy.

My wife gave daily injections to one of our cats for over 6 years. She trained our youngest son ( high school aged at the time) to do it when we went on vacation. Anyone can do it.

This cat is unique (to me at least). At night before we retire, the wife tells her 'Wake Mummy up at 5:30', and I will be darned if this cat doesnt come into the room anywhere after 5:00, and starts making noise !

Yes, she has always used the litter box. I should add that my wife is fastidious about the litter box. She cleans it each and every evening.
After the cat poopoo's , the wife even wipes her behind. Maybee thats an Asian thing.

My wife keeps fish in a tank. recently one of her favorite fish died. Wife cryed her eyes out..saying it was her fault because maybee she didnt give the fish the best food.

(Oh, the cat gets only the best, most expensive food). Which in my wifes mind, is doing the best thing she know how to do to keep the cat healthy.

I have left her a note with all of the info you guys are provideing, which she will see in the morning. I imagine a trip to the vet is in my immediate future.

I'd suggest a thorough vet check. We have two young cats. They are wonderful companions. I hope it turns out good for you. We did have a problem with our first one when my wife changed his cat litter and he started peeing on the couch. Changing it back cured that right away though so hopefully this is not something more serious.

The litter thingy is encouraging news. I do know that the wife has used the same litter since she has had this cat. To obtain this litter she has to go way out of her way, to a specific Pet shop.
I will add in the note, and enquire as to if maybee she changed up on the usual litter.
