Whoa, did anyone see "Metta World Peace" deck Harden?
Jeez, I can't believe this guy. "World Peace?" Uh-huh. He gets the big second chance after the brawl with Indy, has a good gig with the Lakers, has to be making bank, and he doesn't have any more sense than to do this? And then he pulls the innocent card out.

It is obvious that his handlers cannot control him. Would love to be in the locker room and watch the scene if a player told Vince Lombardi, or Bear Bryant he wished to be refferred to as 'World Piece'.

Not sure the NBA can do much about a person legally changing their name, not unlike the NFL and Chad Johnson then Ocho Cinco then Johnson again. They can discourage the behavior. He certainly didn't act like someone who inadvertently hit someone with an elbow. As someone who has been on both the giving and receiving end of an inadvertent elbow on the basketball court, the usual reaction is something along the lines of, "You okay? Sorry, man." Not continuing on down court, then looking to pick a fight when confronted about it.
Bottom line is that he can can call himself anything he wants, he's still Ron Artest and has a lot of negative history.

I think the league should officially change his name to Metta Douche Bag.
Hope they ban him permanently. Guys like that are why I refuse to watch NBA.

I haven't watched the NBA since the days of Bird, Parish and McHale.

Got to the point that he knew me, as we were both taller than most and I would go out of my way to walk over and talk.
Never passed the dutchie his way, I'm sure any of that was done out of the public eye...that was one of the traits of old school basketball players, comport yourself like a role model when in public.

NBA =
![]() I used to follow the NBA, especially the Bullets, in the days of Wes Unseld, Elvin Hayes, and Bobby Dandridge. Then I got to the point where I would only watch the playoffs because the regular season games had no intensity. Then even the playoff games got old. Their talent level is off the charts, but there is too much BS. I'd rather watch a baseball game or an NHL playoff game. |

I still have to laugh when I hear the term"professional sports" These are games I played as a child and we certainly played them with more character and professionalism than the so called 'professionals'. And we did not even have referees to hold as accountable. Professional my eye hole.

I'm not so sure it wasn't accidental. I give him the benefit of the doubt. I don't think Artest knew the guy was there.
Did former 76er Lloyd Free legally change his name to World B. Free? I don't recall. ![]() |
