Part of the problem, is that political math bears no relationship to what we all learned in school.

Which again, underscores the problem with a "corner office, spreadsheet candidate" being touted as the more virtuous choice.

Might not. The operative word. 30 months of jobs added, regardless how many beats 800K a month lost when Obama came into office. Anyone who can't possible see a positive here is decidedly not looking for one.

Romney's 5 point plan:

1 Privatize the postal service, education and healthcare

2. Sell off Federal lands and their mineral rights

3. Shrink gov't. by offing public employees. No firefighters, police, health inspectors etc.

4. End medicare, medicaid and SS

5. Tax cuts for the rich.

Yeah, this MIGHT help, except it won't happen.

Rmoney speaking in Fla.:

"It’s not that [Obama] wasn’t trying, in my view. He was pulling the wrong direction. He didn’t know what it takes to actually make the economy work. Paul Ryan and I understand how the economy works. We understand how Washington works. We will reach across the aisle and find good people who, like us, want to make sure this company deals with its challenges. We’ll get America on track again.”

Probably straight from one of the pitches he made to some struggling business, right before he stripped it and sold off the parts.

I don't want a CEO in chief thank very much.

However, I'm going out on a limb and "hoping" that Willard and Ryan will be different. I'm not so sure about Willard...........Ryan has some serious ideas on cutting the deficit. I'm completely with that.

As I attempted to explain to Link, to no avail...........do you go with someone who clearly is not a leader and has no vision for the future, or do you go with someone who's party is self-serving based upon past performance?

What if I judged you based upon your family? How would you appreciate that? Willard should be given a chance as he states that he must control spending to a much greater degree than Obama.
I agree that Ryan has the numbers credentials. My concern is that he's going for the "Grand Slam" with no intention of compromise on anything - a Grover Norquist kind of guy. If that's the case, you can expect roads and schools to crumble and/or local taxes to skyrocket, as everything will get stripped to the bare bones to avoid federal tax hikes.

Unfortunately, due to the wreckless spending of recent politicians, cut backs to the level that will cause what you describe are absolutely necessary if we wish to stay away from total economic collapse. It's a **** sandwich and we are all going to have to take a bite. It's the price for the good years of unbridled spending.

if you're gonna dance, you gotta pay the fiddler...... sooner or later.

Not even. There was an islands-themed party going on next door, so Mitt slipped out the back before the music stopped.

A CEO in chief will watch the pennies (billions) a lot closer than what we currently have.

Exclamation I can't help it. Sorry.

I've been thhinking of this old tune ever since the Obama campaign adopted
" Forward""
as a theme.

Forward Ho!
They were sure of victory....

Mr. Custer by Larry Verne - YouTube

Just explain to me wtf "Forward" is supposed to mean? Please.

I said 4 years ago he was an empty suit. He hasn't filled it out fully yet imo.

What's that old line about executives?
"The Effective Executive gets the right things done.

I'm with BC in my thinking. Obama offered a 10 year, 10 trillion budget deficit back in 2008 iirc. He's right on plan. He shhould be fired.

If the USG books were held to generally accepted auditing standards, the going concern disclosure notes would make for interesting reading.

In the current spending environment, "stripped to the bare bones" is a relative term. In such a condition, what do you think the deficit will be..........maybe $400B per year? If so, I'm fine with that.

You cannot complain about "stripped to the bare bones" unless there are funds that are unspent. If you don't have the funds, accept the fact that you must buy less crap.

If you don't have the money in your own household, I'm afraid you'll have to "strip to the bare bones" in order to survive.

The government should be no different.

Austerity seems to be working well for Greece, and Spain.

And you truthfully believe that you can spend your way into prosperity? I think you should reconsider............

Austerity is painful. You can thank GWB and BHO and their cohorts for that.

Unfortunately, your solution makes the pain much worse down the road..........but, it might be after your lifetime, so, presumably that's OK?
