What about Sarah Palin?

There are many words no longer in use in civilized society, I happen to think this should be one of them.

Thankfully with kids his age, he's just seen as another kid. They play together after school, they come to his parties and he goes to theirs. They've grown up with him in their classes. Unlike in my day, where all the special needs kids were off in some distant corner of the school away from their schoolmates.

I don't scream for censorship. I'm not the political correctness police. I'm just a protective dad who loves his kid and doesn't want him to have to ever feel bad about himself for something out of his control. Throwing the word "retard" around does just that.

You are correct, sir. Most often the use of that word tells you lots more about the speaker than anything else they might say.

And, BTW, that shirt is excellent. (I was thinking about half the people attending baseball games and sitting in range of a foul-liner (or broken bat) should wear that as well.)

One I still get wrong most of the time is the term for the segment-of-our-population-with-much-darker-skin-pigmentation.

I thought colored was a good term, as it aptly described a large segment (very INclusive, which is, like, totally PC....)
And it's still the NAACP....right??

African-American doesn't take into consideration people of a similar pigmentation who AREN'T from Africa, regardless of how many generations you go back.

Negroes... we're not filming a sequel to Roots....
Blacks... I use this term, don't know if I'm allowed to or not.

The "N" word has the biggest swing of opinion.
First of all, the word really does not define any kind of color, rather it is a term meant to define a certain pattern of behavior, but the boat has sailed on fighting that change in meaning. (Hey Martureo, see any parallels to 'marriage'....)
Every use is considered a serious breach of PC protocol , unless it is used between members of a similar pigmentation segment, then it's cool....

Guess I'll just stick with this....
"If it sounds hurtful, it probably is, and if you have heard it used as an insult, pick a different word"

oh... unless you want to be an insulting DB, which seems like the intent of the OP.
