boooorrrrrriiiinnnnnggggggggg..

You know, I'm half tempted to go participate in the First Annual Black Thursday Night BONANZA Cattle Stampede. Never done a Black Friday before. Wouldn't even have to get up early.
I'll betcha there will be some crazy sheet happenin' down at the local WalMart.

Of course, I may fall asleep after Turkey dinner at the g/f's house.

Saturday I am heading to Minnesota to pick up the Studebaker.

It'll be the first Thanksgiving without my mom. Going in with very mixed emotions.

Heading over to my brother's house with my crew, my father and my brother's in-laws. 15 in total. We usually fry a turkey but this year we're doing one on the rotisserie and one in the oven. Too many kids running around now, don't want to have to worry about the fryer. Frees up more time to eat appetizers and watch more football.

I hoping the company, food, beer and football are enough to help compensate for the one glaring absence.

Hope you all have a safe & happy one! I'm going to try my best.

First time I'm not able to return to my family for Thanksgiving (just started a new job with an odd schedule). So my parents are coming down to have a nice big dinner with me and my gf's family, should be a good time! It's going to be kind of weird being away from home though, I've spent the last 24 at the place I grew up.

In summary - good food, good wine, good company

Tom,
Are you still seeing the same young lady I met at the Chadfest a few years back? Tell her I said hi and hope she's doing well. She was from up in CT too iirc.

Cook your turkey flat.

put a defrosted bird on breast side down. With good kitchen shears cut from the vent up to where the neck used to be on both sides of the backbone and remove it. Pry it open a bit. Flip the bird over. Put your left had against the bird's breast bone and with your right had give the breast bone a hard push towards your left until the bone breaks. Push down on the breast and flatten the turkey. Remove the legs and thighs. Oil and season the three turkey parts as you wish and lay them in a large roasting pan on a bed of celery, onion and carrot with a few whole garlic cloves scattered around and some sprigs of fresh rosemary, thyme and sage.
Roast in a preheated 350 degree oven. An 18 pound bird will cook in about an hour and a half this way.

So Thanksgiving will be a quiet day in which I brush paint the trailer I'm taking out west, and clean the kitchen.

Forgot to mention: It's my birthday! Every 11 years Thanksgiving falls on my b'day.

FIL will be transporting a Turkey and sundry other foodstuffs up to us from Tucson. Just the four of us and him for the feast. MIL and others will show up at xmas.

Hopefully he'll bring some guns along too and we can get some shooting in...

Happy Birthday Strelnik. Mine was on Thanksgiving last year. I treated myself to a breakfast out alone, then a walk on the Ocean City boardwalk.
Stand down. Relax. Take it easy. You have certainly earned it.

After my Mom's health problems back in January, she is now in Assisted Living. It will be the first year since my wife and I married 38 years ago, that my Mom will not be making thanksgiving Dinner. My wife is going to cook at my Mom's house and we will bring her home for Thanksgiving Dinner.

The whole fam damily should be there.
