I've been reading about Subaru diesels and it's been a common finding to have broken crankshafts at an early "age". I wonder what's going on. I didn't read much further because I was searching for something else.

I was wondering if this might be a case of haphazardly adapting a gas engine to serve, sort of, as a diesel engine. If it actually puts out 258 lbs of torque, might be too much for a crankshaft that was more or less doing duty for a 2 liter gasser. I found a site that claime 148 lbs of torque for a 2.0 gasser Forester. About what I would have guessed.
