The Republicans remind me of a guy I once worked with who could never quite understand the laws of Physics. His favorite saying was 'I refuse to accept that reality' and it became somewhat of a joke.

When he finally checked into rehab due to his Cocaine addiction we understood why he was having trouble accepting reality; he was not living in the real world and the rest of us were.

What did you expect? The party is mother, the party is father. You get support from the party so you best toe the party line. That or GTFO of the party and go into it yourself. It is that simple.

Honesty and dishonesty are irrelevant. You serve yourself so if the party helps you, it is in your interest to serve the party. Much like any relationship or marriage or arrangement.

Let's face it: people lie.

Of course, there is the question whether politicians are really people, or just rats, snakes, elephants, asses and other such critters.

But to the extent politicians are people, then of course they lie.

Well beyond that, though, are those people like pooka who are so distrustful of another group that they will go to such lengths and machinations to argue how bad the others' lies are.

And that's probably the saddest thing of all.
