Both sides do it, but who buys into the lies? That's what is important.
Republican voters are so into thinking they have the truth of a matter that they start to think their own lies are the truth. When this takes place there is no hope of accomplishment because they are living in a fantasy world of their own making. For instance: Jeep is moving all of its' production to China. This could have been a mistake, but when Chrysler corrected the 'mistake' the Republicans said Chrysler was mistaken about their own plans on where to build Jeeps and that the Republicans were right. This is the result of thinking their own lies are the truth, and then thinking that the US should base its' policy decisions on stuff that is totally made-up. The Ryan budget, the one all the Republicans bought into and claimed they would turn the US around with, turned out to be based on faulty data they swore, even after they knew the truth, that the data was good. So not only did they lie but they had lots of folks swearing they were telling the truth. There was also the entire 'save the economy' thing. Anyone can look at the data and see the economy is getting better. But for Republicans a good economy is their worst nightmare, so they just keep saying the economy is getting worse and hoping that their followers are too invested in the past lies to challenge then on the latests ones. Republicans have said that healthcare costs would skyrocket under Obamacare. They are currently remaining stable. Insurance rates may be going up, but those are insurance costs and the insurance companies are in business to make a profit and to make all they can, but medical costs are stable. Republicans have claimed that inflation is about to explode and it is hard to find a Conservative that doubts this. Any check of inflation rates over the past four years shows this is not the case. |

If you want to see an excellent example of self-deception all you need to do is watch the film 'Sunset Boulevard'.
Norma Desmond is what takes place in a person's life when they start thinking their own lies, which are meant to persuade others, begin to persuade themselves. |

Yes, and full of accurate examples.
Examples that sank Romney. 'Unskewed polls' anyone? When you see the facts, but don't like them and make up your own, and then use those facts to make decisions about how you will spend your money in an election...... I have never seen an election where one side was done in by its' own dirty tricks until this last one. |

And the reaction to it shows that it continues to be the case.
The Republicans remind me of a guy I once worked with who could never quite understand the laws of Physics. His favorite saying was 'I refuse to accept that reality' and it became somewhat of a joke. When he finally checked into rehab due to his Cocaine addiction we understood why he was having trouble accepting reality; he was not living in the real world and the rest of us were. |
