Nice redline you've got there. I wonder why other cars with M104s or M103 engines aren't limited to 7000. Anyone have any ideas? I know this is inane, but it's been bugging me for a while.

you know one thing I changed....

The tach used to read 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80 X100 for the revs.

I had it changed to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 X1000. That was actually done by chris, and I liked it more, so we stuck with it.

Really looks different to me, but at the same time, looks better IMHO.

I think I'll go with red needles. I was told paint from a hobby shop is best, plus I have to pull the gauges again anyway to adjust the clock. I misaligned the hour arm on the clock, real simple fix though. the rest are aligned perfectly, thank god hehe..

I'm so pleased with how they came out, and the creme background really offsets them nicely int he interior. I could have gone white, but I think the cremem really adds ot their difference.

Ashman,
I painted mine white with half inch red tips. I think it would look better on white! Which brings me to my next question. You purchased those from the guy in Decatur IL that sells them on Ebay, Right? Honestly, hows the job? He says they look as good or even better than the original. Is that true? Do you think they will last? If so I'm going to buy a set from him. Tell me what you think.
Thanks!
Adam

Adam, they look better than the Original ones if you ask me.

Fairly Easy to install, and very good quality. You need a sharp xacto blade, and a steady hand to get them cut out to fit. He includes great instructions that include everythign from removal of the gauges fromt he car to remocing the needles off the gauges without breaking them.

Plus he can customize them however you want for a bit extra cost.

Mine have blue black red and creme, not white.

I will do my needles in red, as the orange sticks out a bit much for my tastes, and red will look nice.

his name is chris, I got them from him before he started ebaying them. CRhenkel@aol.com

The price is excellent, the look is excellent, I really don't think anyone can go wrong with these.

Talking Nice Gages!

Are they stickers or covers? Do you remove the originals or simply add these over them? They look pretty darn good now, do you think that they are more readable or actually more quickly/easily readable at night? I can see that some people might want to lower the dash illumination with that much more light reflective surface. X-acto knife !I assume they are made of plastic or vinyl not aluminum? Thanks!

They stick on and are of a thick sticker laminate sheet.

Very nice looking.

I had my bulbs painted red in the dash, so I took them off and made them clear again. They look great, even at the highest illumination they are not too bright.

They are definately easier to read, it just takes a bit to get used to the difference in color between the black gauges and the new ones.

I'm thinking red for the needles dale, maybe with a white tip.

I'll be heading down to the hobby store today anyway to check the paints out and buy the one I want.

Thanks for the compliments.

Chris Henkel, AKA CRHenkel@aol.com is the one responsible for the gauges. I just told him the color sI wanted. He is the true artist here.

I will definately be ordering more when I get more benzes.

Next up I think I want to try to find a 560SEC to purchase within the next year. Then I'll have my two dream coupes, and then I can aspire for the newer ones ehhe.

Here they are with the needles in red.. I used some special water soluble acrylic paint for hobbies made by tamiya. I brushed it on with two coats. looks really killer.

Ashman,

I like it, looks great.
I would like to have my gauges done in white also, but I didn't know that you can take the needle from the speedometer off.

Tell us what you paid for the gauges.

I paid chris's price for cusotm ones but I got a slight discount for sending him my tach face to make the tach...

I think in total I paid $45 to $55 for them.

paint and brushes was an extra $5.00 so if you figure that into the cost, they were still very nicely priced.

Remember mine were completely custom done, and custom costs extra than just reversed ones which would be white...

I think chris charges around $50 for white ones, and for custom I believe he charges $65 give or take.

Alon
