The King and his buddies were drunk and loud and the King started bragging about how hot his wife was. Everyone started telling him he was drunk, and he said 'No, you're drunk', and finally he told his wife to come on over and let everyone see just what a Babe she really was.

She told him to drop dead, and while he was at to throw all the drunks out. She also tossed in that if he had any problem with that he could easily be tossed out with them. Sometimes it is not so good to be the King.

So he had two choices: Either go the NBA route and buy her the biggest diamond in the world or show her that she could easily be replaced. He took option two.

So 1,000 virgins were sourced from through out the Kingdom and then they were all given a year to get ready to meet the King and his Frat brothers. The Bible does not record what they did during this year, but I would expect they worked on losing weight, poise, dance routines... The same thing any girl would do before trying out as an NFL Cheerleader.

On presentation day the King picked out 700 of the ladies for a wife and told the other 300 to not go anywhere since they were given the job of 'Consort'.

History does not record what happened to wife number one, but she apparently got the point that when the King tells you to do something you can either do it or he will find someone who can.

And yes, those are Biblical family values.

I thought marriage was a religious function and that's what the entire dust up is all about?

So is your quibble about the "M" word in that to use it, it must be between 2 people of different sexes? Why then won't you support the right for another couple to have a civil union if they are of the same sex?

I'd kinda like to hear Larry's philosophy of law in general. He's one of the most law and order guys on here but I've never heard him elaborate on his theory of law. Are laws arbitrary? Are they rooted in reason? Are they rooted in will? Should national laws reflect divine law? Do humans have legitimate authority to legislate? Why should we follow the law? What is the relationship between law and morality?
