With the economics O inherited from W we would be done if we kept on that course.

Darrell Issa??

Mark Twain once observed:

It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress. -

D. Issa seems particularly well suited to that body of cottonmouths.

Looks like Issa's lies will be asking for testimony for immunity.

Lois Lerner isn't the only target. Spring is here and you can hear the birds singing already....

Even as the IRS faces growing heat over Lois G. Lerner and the tea party targeting scandal, a government watchdog said Wednesday it’s pursuing cases against three other tax agency employees and offices suspected of illegal political activity in support of President Obama and fellow Democrats.

While I agree that .gov employees should not espouse their political views to others while on the clock, do ya really think that stickers and other trivial things merit congressional attention? If so, there are probably a number of locals to this forum that should be brought before Congress for the same thing....

The counter charge is that Issa is dipping into the tactics used by McCarthy by trying to hold Lerner in contempt of congress for refusing to testify. The counter charge appears correct.

Issa is trampling on Lerner's constitutional rights by holding her in contempt, even though she invoked her Fifth Amendment right not to testify.

Aides to Cummings provided CNN with findings from the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service that cited 11 times in modern history where witnesses were prosecuted for refusing to answer committee questions after invoking their Fifth Amendment rights.
The majority of the instances were in the McCarthy era against witnesses involving alleged communist activities.

Those campaign stickers were the second part of the story.....first paragraph covers what I had previously heard about three others besides Lerner.....

She already said she'd testify with immunity......

McCarthy was right. All the commies are in Hollywood and the WH.

Thanks for the laff.

If you’re gonna to make a reference to something, provide a direct link to it.

From one of your linked articles:

Quote:
“Chairman Issa has demonstrated over and over again that he simply does not want to hear from anyone who disagrees with him or has information that does not fit his political narrative — including witnesses, independent legal experts, and even committee members like myself,” Mr. Cummings said.

McCarthy was right.
Overwhelming evidence concluded he was dishonest and not very bright. These are part of the reasons why the us senate censured him. He was also an alcoholic. I guess these add up his to being your idea of "right."

People like Darrell Issa are unfortunately necessary to maintain an ATTEMPT at a lawful government. If the R's are ever back in control and pull crap like Lerner did, I hope that the Dem's come up with an equivalent watch dog to keep it in check.

BTW, Dudesky, wrt Lerner, I hope she does testify. Political back handing aside, everyone dislikes office holders who withhold information. I hope the testimony will be public.

Disagree that is what Issa is doing, or that what he does is necessary. IMO it is theater. There may be some who seek the truth and if so the pursuit is an important part of the .gov; but that is not what Issa has done.

You should check your source on Issa being censured......

Cummings is popping chaffe as he and many other Dems know IRS is guilty and people should go to jail.

Hmmm... so you DON'T want an attack dog when this kind of stuff is against YOUR side?

What evidence do you have that Issa is merely grandstanding? Let's assume for a moment that what Lerner is suspected of turns out to be true. Are you good with her doing that? If so, when the other side starts doing it, will you be good with it then?
