How do you know Martin did not see the gun? How do you know that Martin did jot approach Fisherman and ask Zimmrman why he was follow him? How do you know that Zimmrman did not brandished or otherwise threaten Martin? How do you know that Zimmerman did not threaten Martin is some manner that made Martin feel his life was in danger? All, some or none of this may have happened but the point is no one knows because there are no witnesses to the start of this fight.

The case only proved that there was not enough proof to show what did happen. Nothing more.

You've got an awful lot of "what if's" which are highly doubtful to be true to bolster your point that we as a nation should abandon SYG; none of which are very persuading. Maybe they are persuading to you, but not to a reasonable person.

You accept that the Zim was set upon, I do not.
However, I also do not know that the Zim started the fight.

My point, and the point of others who are trying to discuss this with you, is that IF the Zim started the fight, then TM would have been employing self-defense. We will never know for sure.
Furthermore, if TM had beaten the Zim to death (silencing any conflicting story) he would have been fully protected under SYG by declaring himself in fear for his life.
There is no weapon requirement.... gun, shiv, bat, fists... all are welcomed by SYG.

I got called a cracker once. I was walking south on a downtown sidewalk minding my own business when three young black women who were walking north showed up. I was as far right as I could get without stepping over the curb and simply walked straight ahead. The young woman nearest me caught my shoulder on her shoulder. I kept walking and heard them call me a cracker.

If I had it to do over I would stop and let them walk around me I suppose.

At the beach that would be a sand cracker...

Don't even ask about the cheese whiz cracker!:P
