Is $52K good price for 2011 E350?

Friend just paid $52K for a convertible E350 from RBM in Atlanta. Is that a good price? Have not seen it yet.

Seems a bit (15 or 20 grand) high.

Is it CPO?

Depends on whether is Certified Preowned byMerceddes Benz or not.

It would have been a VERY thorough going over if it is CPO.

I bought a 2011 e350 CPO sedan with 21k on the clock for about $47,000 just last August but traded it away for my new BMW 535 M Sport, on May 25, 2013.

Wholesale @32,250 then but I only got $31k in trade, because I guess $420 over invoice for the BMW was a steal and they wanted to get some $$$ back.

The car was relisted for sale, but with 39.5k on it, for $39,991 though it needed in 500 more miles, the 40k $1500 major service when I traded, but a friend who lives near the BMW store says it's already gone and sold to someone.

That said, IF it's a CPO unit your friend got, it's a good deal. The cabrio's are worth lots more than the sedans, and cost lots more when new.

Most of them are lease returns (What did the CARFAX or Autocheck report say?

RBM of Atlanta is a huge MB dealer, and they get first crack at lease returns, and can cherry pick the best lease returns and trade ins.

But the 2011s have an excellent engine, the 3.5 V6, though for 2011 you got 279 hp, the 2012s have 300 hp.....

Why not just buy new? He is probably less than $10k off of a 13.

Everyone has their opinion concerning MB. The more I look at the new MB the better the old ones (pre 1990) look. No computers (computers belong on your desk top not in your car). Yes, you have to replace most, if not all of the rubber components but, they were built by original MB craftsman and IMHO are a better built car than anything new I've looked at.

Can you say $100K BLING BLING?

My brother and I looked at a few when he was shopping a couple months ago, test drove a 2007 E350 4-matic with 145k on it. Felt solid as a block, truly amazing car. Also drove a 2002 E320 in mint shape with 135k...also beautiful car. Ended up buying the 2002. Its been great so far, he's put over 3k on it with 0 issues, and it runs/drives fantastic. He's hooked now, I am sure he will eventually upgrade to a 2014 in a few years when you can get nice ones CPO.

We had also test driven a brand new TDI golf....and it was terrible vs. the 02 e-class, especially considering it was 2.5x the price.

Gotta say, the W210 makes the W123 seem like a horse & cart....I would describe it as a "smoother" W126 feel when driving. Its not much different from my 420 which is in mint shape, which helps a lot.

Need to ask if it is a CPO. RBM was asking either $59 or $60K so he felt he got a good deal at $52K. I saw a four door sedan on the street and was not terribly impressed. They seem to like it so far and that is what it's all about.

Thanks for the feedback.

PS - I saw some pics of the interior on line and was less than impressed. My 81 300SD with zebrano and black dash is a heck of a lot prettier in my view. The interior was pretty much plastic and all one color.

RBM always seems to be priced higher on most of the stuff I've shopped them on. All things being equal, they were rarely lower than comps. Unless you can compare cars side by side, beyond the records, you won't know if any two items are in comparable condition. Just because a used Mercedes is CPOed by an MB dealer, doesn't mean it's in nearly perfect condition. Far from it in some cases. Carmax has some of the best condition near-new used MBs I've found when shopping used MBs.

I forgot to put in a price adjustment for being a convertible. With this in mind, the selling price is high by about 50 thousand dollars. I had a convertible once. I might own another, but only if it's a sports car that isn't offered as a coupe. Convertibles leak, are noisy, have their tops degrade much faster than a tin-top, and don't offer much in return. If I want to be out in the weather, I'll take the bike.

If it has all the toys on it. Has very low miles and is a CPO car then yes I would say it would be a fine price to pay.

My 02 E320 has around 150k. Still drives great. No real issues with the car except when it was around the 100k mark. Bought one year old with 30k on it.

What on earth does this have to do with someone who already purchased a E350 Cabriolet I have no idea...
