She then careened off the truck and head first into an irrigation lateral ditch, down the bank and was finally stopped by a hundred year old cottonwood tree. The car looked like a wadded up piece of newspaper but she walked away with scratches.

Breaking Bad definitely brought the cool factor a notch up for the Aztec. A prius isn't much prettier.

The Prius is at least appropriately understated and good at what it's made for. The Aztec? Yecccch!

No doubt. It would have been a happening ride in high school, gas at 30 cents a gallon. Years later a friend of mine had a Belvedere or something with a 440. Not as sexy an engine as the Hemi it was nonetheless ungodly fast.

I bought a Travelall panel van in '71 and the room in back did come in handy a few times.

One of the worst selling Detroit cars of all time I gather. Totally impractical. Found this on Wikipedia, list price for the Prowler:

1997 - $38,300
1999 - $39,300
2000 - $43,000
2001 - $44,225
2002 - $44,625

1997 Plymouth Prowler

By the mid-1990s, car designers had powerful new computer tools at their disposal, allowing them to pursue low-volume, high-zoot projects that before would never have recovered the development costs. The Prowler was one such project. Inspired, if not plagiarized, by a retro-roadster design by Chip Foose, the Prowler looked like a dry-lake speedster from the 22nd century, with an open-wheel front end and low-slung hotrod fuselage. Except they forgot to make it a hotrod. Intent on containing costs, Chrysler stuck its standard-issue 3.5-liter V6 under the hood, good for a rather less than spectacular 250 hp. The Prowler didn't even have a manual transmission, which made it almost impossible to lay down the requisite stripes of hot rubber. The result was a flaccid little jerk of a car that threatened much but delivered little.

I know, I'm going to wait 'till it's available online. It's going to be tough, but I'm going to wait 'till I can watch it in one go. I'm an adult now, should be able to handle this....

You must own one, only an owner can love that face.

Sorry to burst your bubble here but...

The "fine corinthian leather" that Ricardo Montalban used to croon about was on the Chrysler Cordoba.

VW Corrado G60 - the coolest vw ever until you owned one....Half of it was Golf/Jetta parts, half were Passat parts - and everything broke.

example - the powered rear spolier was on the same fuse as the instrument cluster - so when it got stuck and popped the fuse, your speedometer went to zero...
