This CEO's name was Eddie Childs, and somewhere in that time frame he put forth a personal ad campaign that ragged on the elected officials in a bipartisan manner much like you are in the above post. His catch phrase for that was "go to the polls and fire 'em!" He said that all he wanted from the government was to fix the potholes, deliver his mail on time and LEAVE ME ALONE!

I have put his advice in practice often over the years, but I am getting very close to the point of stepping it up. I have felt that a vote for a third party candidate is a wasted vote, because it puts the advantage to one of the bastards of which I want niether one to win.

I am at the tipping point, where I might be voting for third parties henceforth, regardless of their chances to win.
Why don't you run for elected office?

So I give you a 4th party or a 5th. What would the difference be? Same rules so what makes you think the results are going to be different? That is the part I don't understand.

That point could be argued endlessly without any outcome. I just know for sure that going to the front of a line is only a self interest, while waiting in line, or letting someone behind you with one or two items go before you is just being courteous in my actions.

I happen to agree that in general, all contracts are negotiable at any time. If you have something that is agreed to though you better have something to take to the table for the other party if you want to soften your own load.

Would an act of extortion be considered as something to take to the table?

We did tell them that they can wheel and deal and that it is often "make a deal" time. We want something we tell them to go make it happen. So they trade favors or whatever it is you call it. You give me your vote, next time I give you my vote. So happens this time that both sides have patrons that want what they want and an impasse is reached.

I think it would be interesting to see what would happen if all media stopped saying anything at all about the shutdown.

I have not seen where it has affected any of the ppl I interact with on a daily basis except for one lady that I service all her farm implement and automotive repair needs. She is a civilian worker at the air force base but she also has a hay farm. Right now she is doing alot of hay farming.

Normally I go to valley forge n.p. on my day off to do a solid chunk of exercise. Not today. Friend of mine owns a gas station near the grand canyon, his business went to near zero. Independence hall is closed down, trying to chase down my taxes after the car dealer messed them up has also been fun. Those are just off the top of me head.

edit: now when I get fat, its obviously going to be Obama's fault. Thanks Obama!
