Knowing the source, it no doubt had something to do with someone's digestive system.

I'd like to know your impressions on it too as I'm eyeing a couple of these right now myself. Price doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me if the condition warrants it. I've test driven a couple of these a few years ago and my impressions were in the whole favorable. Other than it being a bit cramped compared to other Benz's (but that obvious before you even get inside right) I thought they were remarkably comfortable and rode exceptionally well.

W201s were not effected by the wiring issues. My 93 190E has 240k on it now and no wiring problems.

M103, 3.0L.

Originally it came with a 2.6L, but the head gasket went at ~210K and the transmission was leaking badly. So rather than pull the whole thing out, redo the head and reseal the trans I opted to pull the whole thing, put a 3.0L m103 in and reseal the trans.

The head gasket issue is what concerns me about them too. There's a nice 2.6 one available here for about 3.5k but it's got 150 on it and I'm concerned about how soon it might need head work done.

I think they all need will need head gasket work eventually. I read that there is a design flaw on the original gaskets...Same for the m104.

Mine went at 210k.

The current m103 has about 107k on it and there is a tiny bit of oil seeping out of the gasket by the 6th cylinder. Not enough to put any drops on the ground or cause any problems. It uses maybe less than 1 quart of oil per change (7500-8000 mile interval).

Luckily, on the M103, the headgasket is a do-able DIY

Even for someone who has never done that before?

There's no shortage of M103 headgasket DIY instructions on the net. The annoying part on the 190E 2.6L is that the front end (radiator support, radiator, etc) has to be drained and removed for access to the front of the engine.

I think they are also cramped to work on too - the biggest trouble with them where I live is rust. I wouldn't ignore rust on a W201 even in a desert!
