Shreveport, LA and Lubbock, TX... not sure where that came form since I have never even been to either city. I have lived in Florida and New Orleans for the longest which are both mixing pots of culture so that could be why I talk funny.

Finally got the map to load. All three points are within a hundred miles of here. Pretty amazing.

I've taken the test several times, and not all of the questions are the same each time. I'd say the results are meh. Sometimes it does well enough and gets me in CA, other times all over the place.

I blame the Peenie Wallies.

Got my place of birth pretty well triangulated. There was a show on PBS like this, called, "Do you speak American?" Interesting stuff.

It showed my area from Newark NJ across to upstate NY.

I don't have a NJ accent or all, when I get a some booz into me I have a slight CT/MA accent. Although I guess the red was across MA and into upstate NY which is about right.

NYC and NJ have very distinctive accents, same with Long Island and Boston.

For example NYC residents never say I'm going to New York. New York is the state, you always say I'm going to "the city". If you don't know what city they are referring to your a moron because NYC is the center of the universe.

People in Chicago and San Francisco say the same thing.

It's always "the city".

I hear you.

You wanna make a person from San Francisco irritated?

Call it Frisco or San Fran.

They just hate it.

We sure do.

( you are looking up Divisadero Street in Pacific Heights: )

And the survey got it dead right - I am from San Francisco. It is "The City", same as Tahoe is "The Lake" and Hawaii is "The Islands".
