Benzman; move to Eastman, Ga. if you don't like tourists. The only ones you'll see around here are the ones that got off I75 and got lost!!!

how much does Florida make off'n these so called darn tourists? i've been a tourist many times in Florida what with my kids. i also just happen to like tropical climes once in a while...

PS. i think with what's going on in the world, we could do with a lot less hate specially amongst ourselves in this country.

That damn track!! I have to drive by that thing on my way to work during race weekends. Ft. Worth "police" departent couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag even if they were given instructions.

Yous should see Daytona the week of the race cones between lanes so you cant change lanes roads truned one way and they force people to to roads to get out.

Yup, much the same here. I think what further irritates me is the traffic light that they installed near the track. It usually favors the side roads where there is no traffic whatsoever, halting all smooth flow of traffic on the highway - ESPECIALLY at night.
Then, when they acutally DO need the light, they shut it off and cone up the place. They used to put breaks in the cones for through traffic. Not on the last one. I pulled off to find out how I was supposed to continue down the needed road. Then, as a show of gratitude for finding a place OUT of the flow of traffic (not like there was much as the venue was still going on), I was handed two citations. Both of which were dropped with surprisingly little effort (I plead not guilty and the judge simply dismissed them).

The place is pretty much a nasty cone zone with traffic moved in one direction over 6 lanes, and then funneled down to two lanes less than a block away from the track.

I feel ya' Benzman...I lived in Daytona for several years, and hated the tourists, for the most part. (Except bike week...I love the Harleys!). Can't bite the hands that feed you, though...

Now I live in Atlanta, and all the same damn tourists from up north come thru HERE and clog up our already-horrible traffic on their way to FL! Argh!

-from I95 Atlanta is a couple hundred miles to the west. i wouldn't take a detour into I75 unless i had a real good reason like maybe the one time many years back where there were snipers on I95 around Jacksonville, but then i would have just taken some local roads....

-i've also taken I95 all the way north into Canada, north of Toronto in the summer. they don't hate us tourists up there, i oughta do that again sometime.

Just got back from 4 days in the Orlando area doing the tourist thing. Benzman - I would say that if I lived in that mess I would not like it either. I lived in Atlanta quite a number of years back and moved out of there telling myself I would never live in an area with alot of traffic ever again. We did leave about $300/day in the Orlando area. The Honda performed flawlessly

Well...this is THE weekend!

If the weather holds up, 200,000+ expected to converge on the Texas Motor Speedway for Winston Cup action.

I'll try to stay of the highway as much as possible...

{RANT MODE ON}

I *HAVE* to drive by that damn thing all weekend. They have the *%@#ing cones set up to divert all eastbound HWY114 traffic to southbound I-35W. Now just *WHY* did they widen Hwy114 to four lane divided highway between I-35 and Roanoke? I swear that Ft. Wrothless PD couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag WITH instructions on how.

{RANT MODE OFF}
