Arrow Interesting Study

This is out of the January 2002 Reader's Digest, page 184.

Below are brands(in order) that owners say have had the fewest problems after five years of use:

1)Lexus
2)Porsche
3)Infiniti
4)Toyota
5)Acura
6)Mercedes-Benz; Jaguar
7)Honda
8)Lincoln
9)Buick
10)Cadillac
11)BMW
12)Oldsmobile

What do you think about the study?

Lexus has to pay RD a lot of $$$ to be on top.
Not to bad for MB,but could be better.
My Civic is 7 yr old.and no major problems.
Hmmmm,I don't know about Porsche,maybe
cuz its allways garaged.Never seen snow.

I'm sure the results would be different if you look at decades of ownership...but I believe this study covers a typical first-owner life cycle. You get more statistics that way.

How many surveys would come back if you had to find people who've owned their cars for more than 5 years?

That's why I don't understand why people put so much into that JD Power and Associate rating on initial quality.

I think this is because many are buying new cars and own or lease them for 4 - 5 years.

Kuan.. I know! I heard so many horror stories from Jag owners.. and not many from Mercedes owners. So I am surprised that Mercedes and Jaguar are ranked evenly.

Speaking of voting, my county was involved in a voting scandal a couple of years ago that received national attention. Seems some dead people voted. Our contention here is that "Death does not relieve you of your responsibility to vote" and " Heck, William voted for Tom for 27 years, if he hadn't died he would have voted for him AGAIN "!!

Yeah, and what's more, Bill Clinton was elected twice with less than 50% of the vote both times.

On his second election, he got more votes than his first, and he won with I think 46% of the vote.

I know there were three candidates in the election, but Democrats accuse Bush of not being legitimate because of many reasons (we all know what they are), but he still got more votes in total numbers and percentage of votes than Clinton ever got.
