I Hate Having Tourists In Town!

Well It’s that time of year here and we have people from everywhere coming to Daytona. Well I need to blow some steam off somewhere so where else would I go. It drives me crazy to be stuck behind someone going 35 mph down a road that is posted 50 (65 is normal) then they slam on the brakes every 5 seconds going by the track to take pictures and cause a traffic jam by stopping in the middle of the road. Another great combination is the remaining snow birds and spring breakers mixed with bcr = no one getting anywhere near the beach. How can I tell they are tourist you ask newer cars Sunshine State plates and no tinted windows.
Ok that was my idea of a rant I feel better
BTW I took this picture of a tourist stopped in the middle of the road

Too bad Benzman
I thoroughly enjoy coming to your town during certain, let's say, automobile events.
You are more than welcome to come to mine during the annual Grits Festival in March or you would prefer the Million Pines Festival during the fall. Parking gets to be a pain around the park the festivals are held at but at least you do have the Sherriff (who everyone in town knows on a first name basis) directing traffic into/out of the parking lot.
Sorry for any inconvience but you already know there are alot of fun activities in the Daytona area, be thankful .

Benzman,

I lived in Florida for 12 years and did my fair share of fist shaking at the tourists as well. But you gotta remember that it is because of all those annoying tourists that you don't pay any state income tax!

I have some family in Deltona and Daytona and I usually visit there during the summer. Personally I just got back from Ft. Myers Beach, FL about an hour ago so I am pretty tired. All of my friends went to sleep and I got stuck driving most of the way home. I am pretty sure I didn't do anything like stop in the middle of the road to take pictures though. In fact, I didn't drive much at all because I could walk everywhere. Now I am back in Indiana and there is snow on the ground, all well, at least the hoosiers are in the national championship game.

I live in a seaside resort area......and we receieve NO benefits from the summer invasion. Only the propriators on the boardwalk help that community in their tax benefits. Because we do not live in that town......we just get to put up with all the tourist fall out. Especially since there is a drought emergency in our state. We have been asked to cut down on water usage everywhere. No car washing, lawn watering, shorter showers, etc. However, who moniters the tourists when they stay at the motels and contuniue to deplete the supply that we are trying to save? I chose to live here and we love our home....However, the tourists clog our roads, invade the stores and crowd our waterways. We have become prisoners of our town on the weekends...and it has already started!!! Sorry about the rant........I know how you feel......and we receive NO benefit from them at all........only what the leave behind....and that's not even their money!!

I'm not saying all tourists are that way but 90 percent are. Good for revune yes bad for the city yes (SPRING BREAK) They had to raid a hotel 8 times in one week because of drug use drinking etc. Daytona likes the money but not the crime and violence that comes with during bike week and race week drunk driving is horrible and the cops admit they can't stop it.

come to los angeles.... Tourists all year round.

Add that to 20 million plus cars on the roads. and voila, you have your Typical LA Daily traffic.. hehe

But it still only takes me 20-30 minutes to get pretty much anywhere I need to be.

You think you've got it bad, I have many tour busses every day stop in front of my house and block my driveway for 5 minutes at a time... they are usually talking about my house and its previous famous residents.... The billionaires boys club...

BUMPER STICKER

I saw a bumper sticker on a pickup in Austin, TX
"If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot 'em?"

Nope, can't say I have. So what kind of place is it? Do they sell suits just to celebrities? Or does buying one of their suits make you look like one?
You say it's in Lawrenceville? Whereabouts?

Yep.

People from all over the world come to Dallas-Fort Worth in the fall to watch the colors change on the cactus (hee hee).

Seriously, though, the only hassle is that I live about 10 miles from the Texas Motor Speedway, so during Winston Cup weekends, all of the major highways surrounding TMS are clogged...

...what is cool, is that if the wind blows towards the house, I can hear the cars (or trucks) going around the track!

Actually we live far enough outside of DFW to not have to worry about tourists...unless we want to go to the same spots...
