While I don't think making smoke for the sake of making smoke is fun, its just wasted fuel. If you do have a high HP diesel you will get some amount of smoke before boost can catch up to fuel, Gale Banks has been speaking up about this a bit, since its giving diesels a bad name.
Rollin coal is no different than the import crowed that was big 10 years ago. Civics are now old man cars, they lost their cool. Diesel trucks are in. I see just as many old junk W123's smoking giving old Mercedes a bad name

FWIW - I'm really considering selling my Powerjoke after this whole thing exploded.
This negative publicity is really irritating, and I don't want to be labeled one of those D0uch-es that drives a diesel truck. I was driving alongside an old Dodge Ram today, when I looked up and made eyecontact with the driver. I heard him shift and start lugging the engine, dumping smoke all over my car. I'm a fan of tuning automobiles - whether it be a diesel truck, supercharged car, or 1000CC motorcycle, but this crap with rolling coal irritates the hell out of me. The EcoBoost F150 and F150 Raptor are both really sweet units, and while they don't quite have the same pulling power as my diesel, they don't come with the obnoxious label my diesel does.

Several years ago we went out to the east coast in a borrowed Dodge diesel truck over a weekend.
Never drove it below 70 mph. Never got below 22 mpg. It was my first experience driving a diesel. Never felt fast Never was slow. It was a hi-mileage vehicle. Would I own one, you bet. Would it smoke. Probably. I ride 2 stroke road bikes. Same *****, I say that if you don't like it, pass me.

I'd imagine if Prius owners didn't drive so GD slow in the left lane most other drivers wouldn't dislike the owner and car so much. Hyper-milers are hated just as much as coal rollers. Hyper-milers tend to be a group which includes citifolks who think they know better than country folks and want to impose their idea of what and how to make laws and rules for places they don't live and never will live. Rollin coal is a response to that. Not that I agree with either side.

Most Prius owners I have seen drive quite quickly and negate their fuel savings. Agreed on hardcore hyper milers though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dear Ignorant ****ers
You are in favor of gov control over a product I have bought and paid for which is the subject of double taxation, but we won't talk about that part. Let me give you a headline from the future. "Old car fans the nation over are in a defeated mood as the US has adopted legislature similar to Japans effectively mandating that cars over ten years old be crushed. The president has hailed this as a New Era where we will be able to clean up this country." Either we stay strong together or we allow them to turn us against one another and watch America become the land of the Overtaxed and the home of the Imprisoned. |

Hey, at least the coal rollers are paying their fair share when it comes to fuel taxes. Those damn hybrids and electrics are getting off easy (for now)!

Only a matter of time before someone in a lifted truck is sued after decapitating someone in a lower street legal vehicle. The manufacturers of lift kits will probably be dragged into it also.
If we were talking about responsible adults it probably wouldn't be such an issue but out of control heathen arsewholes with deadly weapons have always been a problem. |
