Moving to the UAE

A month ago I was proposed to visit the United Arab Emirates to meet a fellow Mercedes fan who happened to be the head of a marketing company in Dubai. A few days later, I met one of the main chairmen of the company and was hired right on the spot!

I am currently in Spain for a few days to collect my stuff (documents, Hazet tools, clothing) and will be departing to the Emirates on Tuesday for a new chapter of my life! I'm beyond excited!

My first order of business will be to find an apartment and a daily driver (options are endless, and cheap!). Thinking of a W202 C43 AMG Wagon, a 450SEL 6.9, a W140 CL500, a R129 SL500, or a 560SEC. From what I have seen, Emiratis are deeply passionate about *new* cars, so the older ones can be had for a song. Will report with updates!

Spectacular. Doubly so because we all know you're the sort of human who will live this opportunity to its fullest.

Well done sir.

Congrats!

Dubai is an awesome place - opulence with no bounds!

I'm going back to spend a week later this year - if you're around, let's hookup. I know of a few good places to grab a beer!

Well done, well done. Sounds like a life well-lived.

Reminds me of a quote that John Lennon once said that goes something like, "life is what happens when you're making plans".

I admire bold people. Hat's off to you.

Are you taking a life with you? I wonder about having a social life in a strange land.

Every time I am on here. I always look for "Delibes post". Today was my lucky day! Congratulations Delibes. I pray for your safety but please tread carefully.
You will no doubt do a good job representing us and the Mercedes-benz!

100% agreed! Almost 8 months of radio silence, and suddenly the jobs just rain on me!

I will be the creative director, and will be managing a couple accounts. In short, I will furnish my professionals with some creative guidance at the same time I represent the company and generate new business.

The GWagen saga is going slow, but it's going. The truck is now titled and shall be on eBay as soon as the paperwork reaches the USA. The problem with Spain is that I can't earn any money here while I wait for the orders to ship/get their paperwork. Dubai is 6 hours away from Spain and also has plenty of interesting cars. I plan on saving enough and going on 2-3 car batches, as opposed to the manicured 1-car-per-order bootstrapping.

I will becoming a partner in a small Mercedes-Benz workshop in Dubai. Two lifts, a few tools, open air repairs, and a lot to do in the future! For now I will give them my Hazet tool collection to initiate my membership, as well as some organizational advice.

It's gonna be tough with the ladies... but soon enough I'll connect with the MB-heads there, so no problem!

Nice one Miguel - boy I can hardly wait until you start your new crazy car related blog entries again. There must be some pretty exotic automotive subjects out there for you => go forth and dazzle

Glad to see you went out there and found opportunity where you had to Miguel, I hear that women have been banned from driving there all the way back to when the first started experimenting with auto carrages--when they put wheels on camels............

Congrats! However unless you are making a small fortune and have a second car why on earth would you suggest to yourself that a 6.9 is a daily driver?!?
