The W124 300D Turbo was never made in RHD. The steering box would be in the direct path of the turbo's downpipe otherwise. This is why for example in the UK only non-turbo W124 300D's were sold. Never the Turbo Diesel models.
![]() Besides, there are a lot of LHD cars in Japan. It's considered a status symbol and there's rarely any (legal) overtaking on the opposite side of the road in Japan. ![]() |

Cool ~ thanx for the explanation .
In the 1970's I imported Japanese RHD VW's to California, this was before the current up swing in RHD anything occurred . Now anything RHD from Japan (not so much from England tho') is white hot . My Son drives a (RHD) Domestic market Honda Civic Coupe ~ it's a nice little car . I appreciate the willingness of everyone here to teach ![]()

DD is a 2014 Caddy ATS 2.0T four banger. White (Pearl white?) 4 door sedan.
Likes: Enough pep to get up and go with the turbo. The style - seems to draw looks from the ladies. ![]() Firm but comfortable suspension even with low profile Michelin tires. Enough legroom for me @ 6'0" Headroom getting in is barely adequate. 2 tone seat upholstery is different. Keeps interior marginally cooler in summer. Dislikes: Worst visibility of any car I've ever owned. And I thought the CTS was bad. Oi! ![]() 7 speed tranny always shifting. Always. Crummy gas mileage, especially with winter blended gas. Don't ask. I don't monitor. Trunk's a joke. Poor lid design imo. Trouble free car though. 2 years into my lease with 19.5k on the odo. Only issues were 2 B/S minor electrical recalls. The Red Baron is the weekend warrior. Still gets compliments and draws attention. ![]() ![]() ![]() What is the number of this car? I lowered the trunk lid so she could read "300CE" ![]() |

I like Hondas too and have several incl. a JDM spec Integra Type R tucked away for use on summer holidays in Europe only.
...My wife drives the 300D Turbo more than me, as I work from home mainly anyways, but this week I came across a 2000 model Honda Element with just over 100,000km which I picked up for the price of a bit of pocket change. They can apparently give amazing (it was Honda's first Hybrid) economy and owners report as much as 80 mpg. Being of lightweight aluminium construction with a 5 speed manual transmission they're fun to drive too, so they say. It's only a 2 seater, which means I can't go out with the family in it - but it'll do to go to town in when it's too cold to ride a (Honda ![]() Offered the element to my wife, so the Benz could be used less & I might not have to clean it once a week but she flatly refused - she likes the bruiser. Ah well... what did I expect! ![]() |

My DD is a 2015 Ford F150
Likes: Power from the 2.7 EcoBoost is simply amazing for such a small engine, comfortable seats, quiet cabin, huge back seat for the kids, overall driving experience is perfect for a full size truck. Dislikes: The Ford Sync is pretty awful. For some reason it gets finicky when I'm trying to use the voice commands for my iPhone. Fuel economy could be a bit better. You either get eco or boost and its so much fun its hard to stay out of the boost ![]() ![]() |

Yeah that's very true about the Sync. I usually just use the manual controls for changing radio stations and dial from my phone when it's needed.

My primary car is this...
![]() What I like about it: * You lose weight while using it * It can squeeze through traffic where bigger cars can't * Tires are $15 and there are only two * Parking is easy to find * Price was right -- actually free after a guy at a garage sale couldn't sell it Dislike: * Helmet hair * No protection from d'bag drivers * It sucks in the rain or when it's icy |

odd, I thought the EcoBoost trucks had the front plate mounted to the side.

The first gen EcoBoost did. My understanding is the redesigned intercooler doesn't have an issue with blockage there.

My DD is a 1991 Isuzu Trooper with the GM 2.8 V6. It's a low or no option model with 5 speed manual, wind up windows, no sunroof, etc. Basic transportation and just cobby enough not to concern too much about it in the Kansas winter months. I also DD my W140 S420 sometimes, though it is beginning to have electrical gremlins.
Likes: (Trooper) Reliable Rugged Simple and easy to repair Cheap to buy Not so likes: fairly thirsty 2.8 is not powerful (looking to do a 4.9 Caddy V8 swap in the spring) non GM parts of it are hard to find
