Cool! You are impressively fast!

Any interest in the green rounded corner frigadaire in my basement? Its complete with all the fancy swiveling aluminum shelves and the compressor runs but the door seal is gone and the door latch loose.

Did you re-enamal the parts or powder coat them? Or perhaps something else?

The pipes were chrome plated (I guess) but what about the burners? Is that high temp paint of some type or some other process?

Porcelain is all original, just cleaned. Pipe manifold and oven racks are nickel plated, and burners were sandblasted and painted with high temp paint.

I have an old Western Holly dual oven stove out in the barn that I'd love to have re-done. It was taken out of the house when I was a kid. It has round windows. Looks like two washing machines sitting side by side. I am fairly sure it's insulated with some sort of asbestos wool. Did you run into any on this project? These re-habbed old cookers sell for eye-watering prices. Nice job!

That is a really cool stove. This one that I did surprisingly had no insulation whatsoever. I had to insulate it because once I installed a gas regulator, the stove's heat loss was more that the burner could produce. Further, the outside of the oven was a hand melting 280 degrees. Not safe.

That western holly likely does have asbestos insulation. When I do stoves with asbestos, I try to either leave it alone, (no better insulation out there,). If I have to remove it, I just spray it down with soapy water and wear gloves.

That stove would fetch eye watering money when restored, but my restoration quote will certainly make you cry.

I'd keep it. My grandmother taught me to cook on it. I've sent pics to a guy who does restoration in Tucson, he says he'll have to see it in the flesh to give me a quote but said it would likely be a few thousand dollars. I may just let the mice keep it, or see what it's worth as is. SWMBO would never agree to that kind of money on a stove. I had to beg for 1500 for a stove for the bunkhouse kitchen.

We use a very similar stove in our kitchen. No insulation either. Any good sources for parts. Ours has never had the drawer under the burners. Also, the spring steel latch on broiler door broke and haven't been able to find a replacement. Currently using magnets to hold it in place.

I don't see asbestos as a problem. According to my BIL it's still sold for insulating hot pipes.

Pm me the measurement of the drawer, I have an extra. I also have that spring clip part also. I would need measurements to confirm fit.

There should be a spring that would help close that broiler door too.

Pm me

Ours had been in a barn for years, used for cooking fish until the rancher divorced his wife and could cook fish in the kitchen. Only problem it had was a cocoon in the main line blocking full gas flow. Removed the cocoon and we've been using it for 25 years.
