My boat is ready for summer!!!
Wellt he good ol 84 Chris Craft was cleaned out today in prep for it being taken to the shop for some minor electrical repairs, and for a good checkup and tuning even though ti runs great.
I just fired it up today, and it started very quickly for not having been started for several months. I have had the battery for it in my car, and I have kept my battery well conditioned and now my tired battery from my car, is much better than before when I took it out. There has to be something said for reconditioning the battery by discharging it and recharging it before storage, then giving it a boost charge for a few hours to top it up. The boat was a little tough to get going right away, the starter was a bit frozen, but it freed itself up after a few attempts. Gettign the boat to fire up and run was like nothing, a little throttle on, a few pumps of the throttle, and keeping the throttle open a bit, and it fired up right away. Once it was warm, I tested it by shutting it off and it fired up ont he first crank, right away. Ahh I love a good ol Chevy engine block without all the extra crap on it. starts up like a nice old 60's vette. Touch the key and vroom it fires up and starts with almost no cranking detected. In fact, it starts just like my dad's old 68 vette used to. You touched the key and it came to life in a second. The boat is idling smooth, since I rebuilt the carb last year, and the mixture has been adjusted all last summer as I used the boat, and it is now perfect. I can't wait to hit the lake in a few weeks!!! We have many toys for the boat, tubes, ski rockets, slalom skis, double skis, wakeboard, and the new 8 foot ski pole is being installed too, which should allow for some serious air ont he toys. I'll also be pickup up nice new double ski set to replace the archaic set we have now. Its going to be a fun summer in the sun. you gotta see my benz with the skis on it. hehe I may see about inviting some of you members to join me for a day on the lake, I think it would be fun. Alon

You live in SoCal. You have ONLY summer! So do you use a topsider to drain the oil?

hehe oh there is plenty of room for summer babes.
It can seat 11 people, but skiing with 11 people on the boat makes it sluggish, though the 15 prop might be better for that. we usually use a 17. But we use a 19 for the ocean or the 21 5 blade for the ocean. We try to keep no more than 5 -6 people int he boat for skiing. We are getting a 15 to try out. I think a 15 will be plenty pull, while not decreasing max speed. Lake speed limit is 35, so we don't really need to go 50 + knots. hehe and yes I use my topsider to change the oil, that is I did until some bastard stole it from me. Grrr.. Ahh well I guess its an excuse to get a nice electric liquivac or something. Alon
