on the other hand Gm didn't make a pickup that looked worth a damn since 02, and a reliable engine since at the latest 2007 (on certain ones) then the went DOD ~~ and it gave em so much problems the marketing people changed the name to active fuel management,,

people with new trucks are still dealing with the cyinder deactivation selonoids going bad causing their cams to go bad, I was thinking a 2009 aluminum 330 horse lc9 would make a great engine to build... I had read you could just rip the dod stuff out, then I found out it costs more for that kit than what the block cost me and the other kit to remove the VVT cost another $250. I sold the lc9 (at a profit) and switched to the L33's The guy who bought it --his 2010 AFM had wiped out the engine.........
Still having the same damn dilemma 4 yrs after they introduced the cyl cutout scheme,
I have heard the direct injected engines are also still suffering the problem.

But im still tempted to get my hands on an aluminum L92 6.2 and remove the AFM .

I didn't exactly change brands of trucks but just upgraded my old Silverado.

Had a '03 Z71 Single cab with 204k. Very sharp truck, owned 4 years and never had much trouble out of it except the alternator. Worst thing about it was a water leak on the driver floor board after heavy and constant storms I couldn't seem to find the source of.

In June, after months of looking at the new Silverado's online and drooling over them I drove to a dealer South of Huntsville to look and eventually traded the '03 in for a new one. I had been wanting something with more cab space, although I'm a single guy I wanted to be able to have the ability to haul more people around if needed so I opted for the Crew Cab model. Got the LT trim, just about fully loaded including Leather and the LT plus package which includes power sliding rear window, back up sensors, integrated garage opener and adjustable pedals. I added step bars at the dealer as being 5'4 I need a little 'assistance' on getting in

Other add ons I've done include: spray in bedliner, black bow ties, hood and window vent visors, rear mud flaps, rear under seat storage box and I just ordered a peragon truck bed cover for it.

Only thing I'm not happy with on the new truck is that it doesn't have blind spot assist on it while my brother's '17 Cruze does have it.
