Planted Gun question verses DNA
Supposedly an Officer planted the Gun. Only the Officers DNA was found on the Gun.
My question is how is that possible. I say that because at some point someone else handled the Gun. Be it during manufacturing or the clerk at the Gun store or of the Gun was taken from another crime scene there should be DNA like under the Grips or in recesses on the Gun or the Bullets and so on. So one would think someone elses DNA would be somewhere on the Gun. If the Officer cleaned the Gun of DNA and like put the Gun in a Bag why would the officer reach in and touch the Gun knowing it was cleaned of DNA and that only his DNA was going to be left on the Gun? Also the Officers carry nutralie or latex glovers like paramedics do.

Hmm, assuming that since you posted this in the "Diesel Discussion" forum you are referring to a "Diesel-Non-Aspirated"? If this is the case then it would make no difference as to how the evidence was obtained. If the vehicle in question was a 220D many hundred bits of trace evidence would be left while people were pushing the car to get it out of their way.

But, my thought is why would an Officer knowing about how evidence is processed knowingly plant a Gun knowing his DNA is going to be found on it? I can'g belive that a Gun from the maker of handled by a clerk at the Gun Store is not going to have someone elses DNA somewhere on the Gun. Of course thos people would not be connected with the Case. I suppose it is possible to clean a gun of DNA and then bag it so it does not get contaminated. If the Officer knew that it was decontaminated why would he then grab the gun? Why would a decontaninated Gun be in someones Car? To me none of it makes sense. In the article it has this speaking of DNA: The gun found in Smith's (is the Victim) car didn't have his DNA on it, but it did have Stockley's (the Officer). However, the article leaves out if anyone elses DNA was on the Gun. The Officer did not claim Smith (car chase because Police believed he was involved in a drug deal) handled the Gun. The Officer claimed that Smith refused to raise his hands and made a motion towards the Gun. The Officer was found not guilty in the Murder Trial that followed. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/09/15/st-louis-ex-officer-jason-stockley-acquitted-in-killing-black-man.html “Stockley requested the case be heard by a judge rather than a jury despite objections from prosecutors.” “Circuit Judge Timothy Wilson, who oversaw the bench trial, said prosecutors also asked the court to consider a lesser degree of homicide. But Wilson said prosecutors did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt the officer’s use of deadly force was not justified in self-defense. This court, as a trier of fact, is simply not firmly convinced of defendant’s guilt,” the judge wrote in his ruling.” “In Smith's case, the encounter began when Stockley and his partner tried to corner Smith in a fast-food restaurant parking lot after seeing what appeared to be a drug deal. Stockley testified he saw what he believed was a gun, and his partner yelled "gun!" as Smith backed into the police SUV twice to get away.” “At the end of the chase, Stockley opened fire only when Smith, still in his car, refused commands to put up his hands and reached along the seat "in the area where the gun was," Bruntrager said. Stockley said he climbed into Smith's car and found a revolver stuffed between the center console and passenger seat.” If you are wondering what my point is they way the article presents it only the Officers DNA was on the Gun and none of the Victims DNA. My question is how is it possible that no one elses DNA was on the Gun? Either the presence of other peoples DNA on the Gun was not reported in the article or there is something bogus going on with the testing.

Well there is some video of the Officer when he goes into the Car. If you look at his uniform about the only place he could have put a Revolver is on his leg. I mean someone has a Revolver inside of a plastic bag in a leg Holster; not likely
I think it is more likely that the News article is simply not reporting if there was other DNA on the Gun. I mean the Gun could have been in the Car and not belong to the victim and therefore there would be none of the Victims DNA on it. To remove all of the testabel DNA from the Gun you could likely dip the whole Gun in some chemical minus the Grips. And, possibly wipe down the grips seperately but that would not be a sure thing. Then the Gun would have to be cleaned of the Chemical and re-lubed while wearing Gloves. Then someone would have had to load the Bullets right out of the Box wearing Gloves. It seems really unlikely that after going through all of that trouble someone would forget and grab the gun. Like I said I think the News Media is not reporting the whole truth on the DNA Test. Also if the Gun was stuck someplace in the Car they ought to be able to tell if that was so or not unless the Gun was in a Holster. If it was in a Holster that should also show up. There was also no mention in the Article of who previously owned the Handgun. Even if it was stolen who ever bought it first ought to have been recorded.

https://www.vox.com/identities/2017/9/15/16315388/jason-stockley-anthony-smith-trial-video
"As the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported, videos show Stockley going back to a police vehicle to go through a duffel bag. Then Smith, who’s dead at this point, is pulled out of his car, and Stockley goes into Smith’s vehicle. Prosecutors suggested that was when he allegedly put the revolver in Smith’s car." "Tests found that the revolver only had Stockley’s DNA, not Smith’s. But several videos of the scene never captured Stockley actually carrying the gun. Judge Wilson said he wasn’t convinced after “[a]gonizingly” going over the evidence. He argued that the gun was too large for Stockley to have successfully hidden it from the cameras, and, citing expert witnesses, that the lack of DNA evidence doesn’t mean Smith didn’t own the gun." Why bother planting a Gun when a resonbaly precieved threat can be a reason to shoot? "But the case also shows why it’s so difficult to punish cops for these shootings: According to the law, police officers only have to reasonably perceive a threat for a shooting to be justified — even if a threat isn’t actually there. Both Stockley and his partner claimed they saw a gun before they opened fire, which would be enough to legally justify a shooting under these standards."

Why is this thread even here and why does it keep getting updated? There is a sub-forum for politics. Some of us come to forums like this (about CARS remember?) to get AWAY from the 24/7/365 nonstop political crap. Please keep politics in the POLITICAL SUBFORUM!!!
