I ran at Grissom today. Good grippy concrete. the car turns well but occasionally for no particular reason the rear will come out on a corner....perhaps too much rear brake. The car developed a lean condition after 180 degree corners so I'll have to do something with the carb or possibly go to throttle body injection.

I got a lot of interest in the little orange cobra. People love the color and the hunkered down aggressive look of it.

From the cobra forum and some other places I learn that the Edelbrock has an off road kit which supposedly helps with the lean conditions.

I think ultimately though I'll be moving to EFI or TBI.

Driving it down the back roads, or taking 65?

Traveling in my trailer, pulled by the big dodge.

I'm not brave enough to attempt that long a trip yet.

Today have been thinking about getting the rear end to stick better in a corner. My old Lotus 7 replica had no rear bar and got great bite out of corners.

The cobra has one. It is only a bit over 2' long and the main part of the bar is a half inch it looks like and the levers are about 4 to 6 inches long. Probably too much rear bar for autocrossing. I will explore removing it or running with it disconnected.

I went down today and picked up the Cobra. The roll bar is perfect! I need to paint it and adjust the height to what I want and bolt it in place.

Woooo hooooo!

pics of roll bar

With the roll bar installed, along with the lowering, 16" rims and Hoosier slicks.

It was cold today and the slicks felt like they were rubbed with olive oil but it was sunny and good for taking pictures..

Tomorrow I hope to get the garage warm enough to paint it.

The guy who fabricated and installed it is amazing. It had to fit down into the two tubes adjacent either side of the seat. The tube is aluminum and an odd size. The roll bar is steel. To create a sleeve to make the smaller roll bar fit into the larger chassis tube he had to put the spacer tube into a lath and turn it to the correct size to fit the hole.

I'll drill holes to bolt it in and paint it myself.

Today I removed the wheels and brake pads and ordered new pads with a street compound from Pegasus.

Dropped the cobra off at my indies to get the fuel injection installed this morning. The tbi is sitting on the engine now and he is figuring out how to plumb it. I have a list of 8 things to do.

Wooo hooo!

Looking forward to your results. I think I'm going with the Holley HP ECU on the system I'm building for my coupe.
