The police are never there when you need them and always there when you don't.

you may need to turn your ad blocker off to read this.....

I like to speak and get to know people of all races and all levels of society, it helps to keep me in touch with the realities of this world.

Over the years I've noticed the well healed wealthy tend to love and trust the cops. They think the cops are the best thing ever.

I also notice most of the wealthy tend to want someone else to do their dirty work; they don't like getting their hands dirty. The police easily fill that roll for them.

The poor, impoverished, living in the ghetto crowd OTH, are another story. Most of the ones I've met and spoken with do not trust cops nor like cops. They never call the police for any reason.

They live by the maxim; Real men take care of their own problems, they never call the cops in on personal private business.

Exclamation Being Childish

BOTH of you are talking out your butts here .

Obviously you've never been to China or any other third world country to live, work and play .

I HAVE and I'm not rich and never will be .

I live in the Ghetto and raise up unwanted children, I'd never saddle them with your hopeless doomed to failure attitudes .

Talking Typical

Right ~ talk smack and when someone tries to help you, just act like an ass .

You can be happy and have a pleasant and rewarding life, you CHOOSE not to .

It really is that simple .

It is their lack of training in all areas of their work that is appalling:

1. Shooting range training versus real world panic situations. Many cops who score exceptionally well at the shooting range can't hit the broad side of a barn during a panic situation.

2. Bogus, false DUI testing procedures they have somehow managed to convince the public are reliable.

3. The radar guns they use for measuring traffic speed versus GPS. Radar guns aren't even close to GPS accuracy.

4. Learning how to perjure themselves on the witness stand during court proceedings to obtain convictions. LAPD says the first time one of their officers lies on the witness stand the officer joins "the liar's club".

5. Beating and killing homeless and/or mentally ill people. It appears they very much enjoy this aspect of their jobs.

6. Many cases of domestic abuse amongst police officers.

7. Apparently, some of them get into animal abuse. A SPCA animal cruelty investigator told me about a State cop she put in prison because he was abusing his own police K9 dog. The judge put a permanent injunction prohibiting the cop from owning ANY pets for the rest of his natural life. Sounds serious to me.....

8. Apparently city governments employ a lousy screening process for hiring LEOs. Dennis Radar AKA Bind, Torture and Kill serial killer was a badge wearing, gun toting, LEO.

Like our forum member Jim B. used to say, police had two choices in life when it came to career choices: either become a criminal OR a cop.

enough said.

Part of my information/experience comes from over eight years working in the legal business. Real Estate, tax, criminal, corporate bankruptcy, personal injury, you name it, I was in it. From small one to two man law firms all the way up to five hundred lawyers under one umbrella, I did it all. What a life, the cases and stories I was involved with while working at those firms would shock your sensibilities.

Secondly, personal interviews with current active cops as well as cops who are retired. I've had conversations with individuals who train the police SWAT teams. All of this has added to my general over-all knowledge of the subject.

In addition, I now possess certain RARE to VERY RARE law reference books that would make Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell and Georgetown law schools somewhat envious......

BTW, to all the men and women who assisted me in acquiring these books over the past thirty years I want to send a big shout out and THANK YOU!!!

Anytime some issue comes up, I merely waltz my little Husky a** over to my book racks and start researching. After thirty years of doing this, I'm still amazed at the life critical information contained within their pages.....

Readers read, dummies stay dumb.

I've encountered some very good cops. Have also read the stories about the bad/stupid ones. The killing of the rancher in Idaho, Jack Yantis broke my heart. Just wrong on so many levels. Wouldn't have taken a genius to have known he was no threat to the officers.

My take goes along with the old saw: lot of room at the top. IOW, top quality people are rare in all fields. Police work is not that attractive, decent pension and pay not bad in some spots however. A former co-worker's son is a Berkeley PD officer and makes over $100K a year. Another client's SiL retired in his late 50s with a $100k a year pension.

On the other hand, it clearly has its downside.

But this bit of 'they're not there when you need them' is ill informed. There are a finite number of officers everywhere. Quite a bit different, but similar, when I drove taxi years ago people would complain about how long it took for a cab to show up. Had they driver for a few months they would get it. It's feast or famine. That person doesn't know how many times I waited, not far from their house for 15 or 20 minutes, no call came in, before finally heading back to town where there was more business. Or about the times when we'd get a flurry of calls and there is just no way we can get to all of them right away. Or if we can, the nearest driver is 15 minutes away. I used to have an absurd fantasy that if I had a Star Trek transporter room big enough for auto and me I could make some serious money in the cab biz.

They also don't know about all the times I went out of my way to try to service one of those calls and the rider had already split w/ no cancellation call. Everybody thinks what they need at any given moment should receive top priority, that we should have had twice the number of cabs on the street, even if it meant half of them going under in short order because there just isn't the year round business to support that number.

Training and competency is far different than a man's character. A cop may have character and yet lack training and competency. The LACK of training is not the cop's fault. He was never given the proper training to be able to do his job.

As to character, the mere fact that one Dennis Radar AKA Bind Torture and Kill Wichita, Kansas serial killer was a badge wearing, gun toting LEO speaks volumes about the citie's vetting process. They cannot pick winners....REPEAT, they cannot pick winners.

Now, process this logic a step forward and into your own personal or business world. You have a problem so you call the police. 99 out of 100 times you end up having a satisfactory experience with the cops. Kinda like David here on the forum; he's never been burnt YET.

Then, one day you have a problem at your home or business and pick up the phone and call the cops as usual. As you wait for the good officers to arrive at your home or business you are in a relaxed frame of mind belieiving all is well with the world.

Only one problem, they send two Dennis Radars to your home or residence. Maybe nothing happens to you or your family when they arrive. Maybe the two whako psycho cops leave with not a hint at bothering you.

Then again, they may decide to case your home and business, check out your wife, dog, daughters or sons and decide to come back in the middle of the night and have some fun at your expense.

This. The entire hiring, training and OJT process for hiring cops is suspect at the least and gross negligence at the most. That means you may not receive all the policing you asked for. But hey, I'm just a bot spewing electrons so what the h*ll do I know?

Good luck, you are going to need it.
