Legal weed use.
As of the 17th of this month. The weed is legal up here in Canada. No issues with possession either. I have to wonder what effect if any it will have on more American tourists visiting.
Personally I do not smoke the stuff myself. I enjoyed the government stating that this will remove the revenue from organized crime. As they will tax it and each package must have a government revenue sticker applied as well instead. The old friends and buddy system of the politicians will apply of course as well. Because to legally grow commercial quantities you will need a license. Although an individual can probably grow eight plants or even more for personal consumption. For example my neighbor could do this legally with the smell the plants produce offensive to us. The whole scenario does raise some questions. When I asked the wife about the impact on young people. She thought it would be minimal as they already have moved beyond that recreational drug. I guess they could reverse the laws that apply to this change if there became a real issue with it. Personally I think part of the change. Was the government just saw the lost revenue stream and wanted to cash in. Part of the reason for posting this. I think the police may cash in on Americans visiting for say a weekend. As well. Getting high and driving. They will stop you and charge you with impaired driving. I have no wish to see a pile of old Mercedes towed into compounds with their American owners facing large fines and other associated costs. I have held back on selling a really good growing medium for that product. Now to advertise it in fifty pound bags makes sense. We have an old farm property as well that was a pig farm fifty years ago. There has to be hundreds of tons of the old very well rotted pig manure still there. . These particular plants grow really well in it. Without my permission or knowledge a person planted a few plants there. They grew like crazy. When I found out it did occur to me the soil was sellable. At the same time I wanted no connection to that business. Now that it is becoming legal I wonder if a dollar a pound is doable with a small add in the local paper. Say fifty dollars for a fifty pound bag. There are a ton of people that will want to try growing a plant or two I imagine. My humble contribution to a greener world? |

I don't know about the hog manure but the wife and I both started taking CBD oil recently and since starting to take a few drops every day we both have been relieved of all pains associated with getting older. No more sore back, hand pain for me and no more neck and hand pain for the wife. It is going to be a game changer in my opinion.
I've got stock in all three of the largest cannabis companies in Canada and have been doing well with them over the past few months.

You should be able to. CBD oil is made from hemp cannabis and is legal in all 50 states. It doesn't contain THC and won't get you buzzed. Here's a link to a popular one in my neck of the woods.

Yes, it is legal in IN now. Try any Health Food store. I see private sellers also. Some say they have great results. I have not. Still, a lot of health or alternative medicines have small effects. I have seen good results with other products.

PC don't sell the Molson stock yet. They are tied in with a company in Canada called HEXO (HYYDF is US symbol) and should benefit from that arrangement.
Tom this is the one the local health food store sells that works good: Miracles of Health

Stoners Rejoice
It will be interesting to see how this works out .
Getting high is O.K. if you want but -not- when you then decide to operate Motor Vehicles, I have seen the resulting carnage first hand and lives ruined, it's not pretty .

Since anyone who wanted to smoke weed prior to law change did so anyway, there will be zero difference apart from a hell of a lot of time saved for cops, and a lot of reduced crime for something now commercially available.
Alcohol is far, far, worse for impairment issues and police involvement issues, and most countries have a fairly good handle on that.

Why would Americans come just to smoke? It's legal in quite a few of the states near the border (VT, ME, MA, WA). Anyway, glad the trend in North America is towards legalization -- hope it gives old anti-pleasure conservatives some agida.

I did not know the weed had been legalized already. At least in some of the northern states as well. So very little if any additional American traffic will occur to Canada as a result.
I do understand that it is less harmful than drinking and there are some medical benefits from it. Distribution regulated by government basically will tend to fix prices I suspect. Our local provincially owned booze outlet has already converted an area of their store. To sell the products. Most of them have historically been provincially controlled and owned outlets. In the last few years they have granted booze selling rights to private owned business as well. They still control who can sell the products though. Up here in Canada unlike in America you could not just find a local privately owned outlet. I did ask my son in law what he thought the retail price would be. In comparison to what the illegal one was. He like myself suspected there would be no reduction. We just do not know. I think it is around 200.00 dollars an ounce locally or has been while illegal. I may be out in left field with that price. What I have heard for years and years is taking a very small amount of one byproduct of it is thought to be very beneficial in general. There seems to be no official verification of this. It is legitimately used to offset some really negative side effects with chemotherapy in a pretty universal fashion. By the medical oncologists. As stated in my earlier post on this thread. I am not a user and never have been. So what I have gathered information wise over the years is more incidental hearsay than anything. The son in law also did mention. As he installs heat pumps. A higher percentage of people that one would think are growing the plants. In part of their homes. He sees it often. We discussed the upcoming change after our Canadian thanksgiving dinner the past weekend. Another story some time back is that one drug company is working on a treatment based on the product. If they succeed in getting it approved. The rumor is also that it will be very, very expensive. I think it was illegal for so long because of the fear of users moving on to harder drugs. There can be no denial this does occur. At the same time the percentage of users following this course is also unknown. It may be very small for all I know. As the wife mentioned. Far too many very young people start out on the harder drugs initially today. So legalization of the weed is not likely to change this. What I do feel is private grow operations will still persist. If under government regulation and control the price remains about where it is. A good quality mature plant produces about Ik in street price product. Again just something I have heard locally. The Cheek and Chong movies should enjoy a new life in release. I have to admit they were really funny. Then again I probably have a warped sense of humor from time to time. At least according to the wife. The wife also told me she knows she has a sense of humor as well. Because she married me. The Cheek and Chong movies may be on Utube as well. I have not looked. There also was a propaganda film at one time called the demon weed. Produced probably in the 1940s. Good for a laugh as well and is still on Utube I believe still. I am adding this as some of the younger members may have never heard of it. I try to add something constructive from time to time as well. If you are going to create blue clouds of smoke while driving. Driving a blue car might make it less noticeable to the authorities. Last edited by barry12345; 10-11-2018 at 10:34 AM. |
