What are the rules of this and ODP&R forums?

It seems like there is confusion as to the forum rules.
What post content would constitute an infraction as well as what would warrant a warning?
What is the process for a member being banned?
Do moderators read all posts looking for content which does/does not break the rules?
Who can report content of posts which may or may not adhere to the rules?
Are there "unwritten" rules which members must adhere to?

It's difficult to object to a infraction/warning/ban if members are not knowledgeable to the process.
This thread is a hope that all members will become more informed as to the rules we all operate under.

I assume you are asking rhetorically. A more interesting question is why does PP tolerate these boards at all? Allowing these conversations has no benefit to their business, and that’s the best outcome. At worst, a stranger might wander in and be offended. As it is, the vilest contributors to the r&p board are not contributors to any of the more relelevant discussions on the tech boards. Many don’t own cars that pp supplies, I suspect that some could afford a car of any sort. As the recent influx of BMW refugees demonstrates, it’s no trick to attract political discussions. Is pp a political echo room or a parts dealer? How much of that cr p do they agree with, and do they profit in some way? The board has to make business sense.

I disagree, to the extent that I do look here daily at least so it is convenient to look for parts at the same time, which have resulted in sales, not much but some, have chimed in with help when I have pertinent information on an MB issue. I have also purchased tools, sold tools, purchased vehicle that I have already purchased parts for said vehicle.

Maybe a two tiered system is needed, those who only cry and call names, get a slap on the wrist before those who participate on other forums.

BTW I have also thought, I should really post what I think of a few of the whiners here in order to get a time-out as I have a lot of other things to do that are more useful than this

I only dig into threads to moderate when someone complains and then run it by one of the other mods before taking action.

Any of y'all remember the Texas Bill dude? How bout big benz man?

Ah yes Txbill. RIP -- he had quite a personality and not afraid to show it, despite the friction it caused. Probably looking down at this thread and laughing his ass off.

It’s not a scolding; it’s just that (4) some reason, he suddenly feels that we need to have more clarity regarding the (4)um rules...

I would make the argument that if trolling is being tolerated intentionally to promote sales, the business needs to examine its viability. If it’s unintensional, it’s a poor reflection on management.

I disagree. The only reason I purchase from PP is because I am here using the forums. Were it not for this place, I wold probably go to the dealer and use my MBUSA discount or various other web sites. I bought $500 worth of brake parts for my GLK earlier in the year and intentionally got them here even thought I could have purchased them for a bit less elsewhere.

I always ass-u-me-d that more posters meant more eyeballs to sell to advertisers. Not sure how that stacks up against part sales. I don't buy all my parts here but I do a fair amount, only seems fair to be loyal to some degree.

Just treat folks like you would in person. If what you are getting ready to post would earn you a punch in the mouth, don't post it. ....and don't be an azzwhole.

That seems like a good unwritten rule; many many don’t follow it. The problem with unwritten rules in both society and here that the common adherence of the rules is culturally constrained. Unwritten rules vary based on cultural norms. A pat on the head in some cultures is the sign good job while in others is a moral outrage worthy of a punch in the mouth.

If you are saying that your upbringing has altered your cultural awareness so that you don't know how to act in polite society.....well, yeah, I'd buy that based on your posts in od.

But having had numerous contacts over the years with you away from od I know that you do know how to treat people when you make an effort.

If you really meant to say you'd try to be more polite, well, that is great.

Why do you assume my post only speaks about my personal experience or actions? That’s insulting.

Hah hah! Are you channeling B now? Fancy words to not disguise when someone is being an Azzwhole.

Unless one has severe mental deficiencies, or has been reclusive to the point of being completely unable to function in modern society, one knows if their conduct is deliberately antisocial.
