What are the rules of this and ODP&R forums?

It seems like there is confusion as to the forum rules.
What post content would constitute an infraction as well as what would warrant a warning?
What is the process for a member being banned?
Do moderators read all posts looking for content which does/does not break the rules?
Who can report content of posts which may or may not adhere to the rules?
Are there "unwritten" rules which members must adhere to?

It's difficult to object to a infraction/warning/ban if members are not knowledgeable to the process.
This thread is a hope that all members will become more informed as to the rules we all operate under.

I assume you are asking rhetorically. A more interesting question is why does PP tolerate these boards at all? Allowing these conversations has no benefit to their business, and thatís the best outcome. At worst, a stranger might wander in and be offended. As it is, the vilest contributors to the r&p board are not contributors to any of the more relelevant discussions on the tech boards. Many donít own cars that pp supplies, I suspect that some could afford a car of any sort. As the recent influx of BMW refugees demonstrates, itís no trick to attract political discussions. Is pp a political echo room or a parts dealer? How much of that cr p do they agree with, and do they profit in some way? The board has to make business sense.

Just treat folks like you would in person. If what you are getting ready to post would earn you a punch in the mouth, don't post it. ....and don't be an azzwhole.

That seems like a good unwritten rule; many many don’t follow it. The problem with unwritten rules in both society and here that the common adherence of the rules is culturally constrained. Unwritten rules vary based on cultural norms. A pat on the head in some cultures is the sign good job while in others is a moral outrage worthy of a punch in the mouth.

Illogical post relative to the thread topic. Most members of this forum are North American adults born in the second half of the 20th century. Unlikely that there has been a great variability in the “cultural norms” to which most members have been exposed to.

If you are saying that your upbringing has altered your cultural awareness so that you don't know how to act in polite society.....well, yeah, I'd buy that based on your posts in od.

But having had numerous contacts over the years with you away from od I know that you do know how to treat people when you make an effort.

If you really meant to say you'd try to be more polite, well, that is great.

Are unwritten rules are enforced by the mods? Can they “earn” you an infraction?

Why do you assume my post only speaks about my personal experience or actions? That’s insulting.

Unless one has severe mental deficiencies, or has been reclusive to the point of being completely unable to function in modern society, one knows if their conduct is deliberately antisocial.

So the cultural norms of Canada are the same as Atlanta, Georgia? Is the culture of NYC the same as Polk, NE? Perhaps illogical to you, but to a world traveler such as myself and many many others it’s not.

The same? No. Substantially different to the point that an insult delivered in Ontario would be considered an effusive compliment in Atlanta? Sorry.

Next time that you’re globetrotting, go to the Bronx and then to Nebraska and call one of the locals in each venue a dirtbag. See if there is a great variability in the reception that you receive.

I disagree, to the extent that I do look here daily at least so it is convenient to look for parts at the same time, which have resulted in sales, not much but some, have chimed in with help when I have pertinent information on an MB issue. I have also purchased tools, sold tools, purchased vehicle that I have already purchased parts for said vehicle.

Maybe a two tiered system is needed, those who only cry and call names, get a slap on the wrist before those who participate on other forums.

BTW I have also thought, I should really post what I think of a few of the whiners here in order to get a time-out as I have a lot of other things to do that are more useful than this

Ah yes Txbill. RIP -- he had quite a personality and not afraid to show it, despite the friction it caused. Probably looking down at this thread and laughing his ass off.
