Can someone walk me through getting a salvage title in California?

Our car was totaled but is safe to drive after a new fender and headlight and wrestling with the bumper. The insurance check is cashed and I have a form from the insurance company that I have to take to the DMV within 10 days. Title is in my name. Yes, there are instructions online but what’s the word from those who’ve done this recently? Thanks!
