Other brick-n-mortar options are Costco or Target.If you can get a prescription (big IF in this environment), you can order from eybuydirect dot com or warbyparker dot com. You can try the frames on virtually through your cell phone. I've done this several times, and always pleased with the result. If you try this, you need to have the optometrist measure the distance between your pupils, which is how they figure out how to center the lenses.

Then now you pay the price for procrastination.

Costco eye centers are closed for glasses.

Online would be the best option right now.

PD = pupillary dist in mm. Some docs give a combined PD (dist between both pupils) others do a PD between eye and bridge of nose. Make sure you know what measurement.you have and what measurement the web site is asking for.

If the lenses are progressive you'll need to figure out the segment hight. For typical user you want to measure from the bottom of your pupil to the bottom of the frame below your pupil. Also measured in mm. There may be a way to do that on line as well.

Don’t be such a cheap-ass, go to a private practice optometrist. Mine does a lot more than just give a prescription.

Imagine how narrow or wide your head would have to be for them to guess wrong? Easy way to measure, take a photo of your eyes with a ruler tight to your face. Or if you are an architect or engineer use a scale

If they know the PD, they can estimate the segment height with sufficient precision from a photo of your face. I was skeptical, but it works as well as anything. I agree with using a retail optometrist for the prescription, but retail frames and lenses are a monopoly of Luxotica. You're paying $500 or more for something that's worth around $100. If you don't have to have a designer label the discount houses produce a good product at a

reasonable price

When we stopped going to eyeglass places for vision tests, and went to a real optometrist, the prescriptions got more accurate, the glasses fit better and we saw better, and eye issues were discovered and addressed.

When you do not have the funds, you manage you HC with your check book.

I think it depends upon the Dr. not the location. I have had plenty of experience with many dr's. Many are good, some are not. Their location has little bearing.

I could buy anything I like. But I see absolutely no reason to pay monopoly prices for a hunk of plastic. Going to a Luxotica distributor, even Lenscrafter, will cost you $400-500 more than Warby Parker. And the WP glasses are every bit as good. You can't get rich by throwing your money away on nothing. I do use a private optometrist for prescriptions.
