Rape seems an inappropriate description of what is normal slightly rough kitty love. I have seen them breed many times and never seen any injuries. Lions do it the same way. I imagine all cats do too.

the female tries to fend off his attention until she is ready to mate.

Skunks are afraid of owls

Owls can't smell so skunks are on their menu, and they know it. I've seen owl statues used to keep skunks away.

As long as they are not Confederate Owls, I guess it is OK.

Post "Barbed Penis"

Go look it up ~ Feline mating doesn't sound like much fun to the females IMO .

I've been thinking about this thread, the damned skunk has been coming back every two days between 9 ~ 10:30 PM .

Once in a while it takes a dump under the house to make the usual stench even worse.....

You might get on the internet and find out what repels Skunks. They might have some spray. I know Cats don't like peppermint and if you put a few drops of peppermint oil on something they stay away from that. Unfortunately it evaporates within a day or so.

I finally had to close off the possible entrances for critters getting under my House.

My Friend put one on his roof to keep Pigeons from roosting in that area.

Post Crawl Space

Indeed plus the dirt under there is dry dust, I don't want to inhale it, less so because I know there's rodent poop in it.....

He came back again last night but only briefly .

Think about how much Rodent Poop is in buildings that are 100s of years old. It is a wonder they have not collapsed from the weight of it.

In the dark of the morning I saw a dark blob sitting in my Driveway and thought it was a Cat and put food out. It turned out it was the Skunk.
Now I am purposely waiting till it is light out to feed Cats.

Back in a previous post I posed a pic of a cat with a wounded neck. I had been feeding it and judging by the Food gone it seemed to eat like 4 times as much as the other Cats.

A few days ago I found the Cat with the wounded neck eating on in the front of the House then went through my House to the back and there he was again eating from the plate in the back. But actually not.

It was a different Cat that looked the same. I mean you really need to look close to tell them apart. And I had often been looking at them in low light conditions and the wound is not always I view to use that as a way to tell them apart.

The one Cat has a odd habit that when he is done eating he lays on top of the plate with dried Cat food only it. He lays there then eats later but when not eating stays on top of the plate till he feels like leaving. He also runs from me.

The Cat with the wounded neck is more tolerant of me and will stay even if I sit on the Porch 10 feet from him.

Pic speaks for itself. When I made some noise the Skunks tail went up and bushed out.

Thumbs down Mouse Poop

Oh, I think & know about this daily .

Remember : I spend a lot of time out in the Dessrt working on old abandoned vehicles in junk yards, the mice like to make their burrows in the shade of junkers and there's always that hanta virus worry too .

I have to keep the dog food in a galvanized metal trash can....

When you put out Cat food for your own Cats you don't know what shows up to eat it.
On Tuesday I found a near empty plate of food with a tiny paw print I had never seen before (Raccoon and Opossum prints show up frequently so I am used to those as well as other Cat prints).
This print would have fit into a 3/4th inch square and all of the tiny toes were together at the front.

Wednesday night I put my Cat out of the front door and it immediately froze. On the other side of the Poarch was a Skunk eating the Cat food. I was able to get kind picture standing in the Door way (see attached pictures).

Since this is the only skunk I have seen close up that was alive except for staying away from the butt end of it I don't know how to be carful around them.
(My prior Skunk experience was in the Boy Scouts one of the times we went to Camp at Camp Pendelton Marine Base and the Marines had killed a Skunk and run it up a Flag Poll. Myself and another Scout showed up late for formation and we were detailed to bring the Skunk down, remove it from the rope and bury it.
Things went fine and the Skunk was in the hole belly up and the other guy decided to throw a rock at the Skunk and hit it right in the pelvis area which released some of the spray.
We did not get any on us but had to take turns zooming in with single shovels full of dirt till it was covered. It is nice to see an actual live Skunk.)

I usually bring the Cat food in at night but I had forgotten and it line 1 AM so nocturnal animals are out there.

2 attached pictures. With the animal prints it was easy to find a pic once you know what animal to look for. Only the front paw prints were on the plate.

I have been putting out more Cat food then normal (I have 2 female Cats) a large male has bee showing up which I used to chase but I found out that when he eats he woffs down food like a Dog does so I figured he was desperately hungry. I had been feeding another Male Cat for a year and half that hung around my House and let me pet him and handle him but he got pissed at me for twice locking him in my Motor Home when a bite he had got infected and he left over 6 months ago and he has started coming back.
Not sure if I can make friends with the newest Male as he keeps his distance or runs when he sees me.
That’s Pepe Le Pew.
