Heaven, Hell and the Devil

Observing one of our members condemn people to burn in Hell begs the question: Do you believe in the existence of Heaven, Hell and the Devil, as described in the Good Book?

No. I see no redeeming value in the belief of a vindictive capricious god or their play mates.

No. I think that the Bible is a work of fiction.

God is the final judge...Not man. So only the individual can make that claim. They should easily be aware of where they stand.

Why believe either way? How about an "I don't know, because I've never seen it, heard it, or seen credible evidence lending truth that such a place exists at all?" Seems to me, that's the most intelligent answer from someone that doesn't have faith. At least Christians have something to base their faith on. The Bible....Atheists, on the other hand, have absolutely nothing to stand on but their simple rebuke: "It is because I said it is...So there..."

Why do you think science and logic is nothing but your bible is 'something'?

Yes I am serious. How is a book that cannot be verified be more valid than science and simple logic?

Show me the original book, with ALL of the chapters in it, and the words unaltered by man. Better yet, show me 10 identical copies of it.

That book has been re-written and re-worded umteen times, by umteen churches in the last 2000 years. It is manipulated and changed at the will of mankind in the church, to influence people and governments to change their behaviors. How is the flying spaghetti monster's original message intact, when man keeps changing it around?

Religion is mans requirement to explain what we don't understand.

Uniformitarianism is the phrase that pays here. The present is the key to the past.

We can't walk on water or make something out of nothing today. They couldn't back then, period.

To argue back and forth about whether or not the flying spaghetti monster exists is truly a waste of time, internet connectivity and oxygen.

We'll never agree about the color of this turd.

I can't answer it but what does that mean? That we need to accept an answer, any answer? Why can't we have "I don't know"?

Science and logic are limited by the capacity of the human mind and are thus a creation of it for our own purposes. Something so many humans automatically assume is that we are the pinnacle of all that could ever exist and that there is no greater level of understanding. What if there are whole dimensions to existence we can neither see/explain/understand? Maybe humans have Ego's a few sizes too big and brains a few sizes too small.

The atheist argument places its foundations on the idea that we have a solid understanding of everything there is to know, this is essentially a human ego-trip. Believing in God and following a religion is based on faith. I'd rather believe and be wrong than not believe and be wrong. Going by the atheist view of "when dead its all over", then what does it matter if you believed and were wrong? Its not like you get a special treat for it or something.
