Any surprising unexpected/good/kind thing happened to you lately?

For me, Lowe's checkout person pulled $2 out of their pocket to pay small amount over $40. I had handed her three $20's. She gave me one back. Wondering now if I looked needy.

I did give her $2 the next time I saw her.

Thumbs up

Yes, it's not entirely uncommon for people to be nice to others and strangers but it sure seems that way these days .

I'm old so I'm nice to others and hold doors for strangers, pickup and return things they've dropped and so on .

Interestingly enough I get chastised for this, even by those I have helped or been polite to .

For me simply waking up is a gift, I know that sounds corny but I don't think I was supposed to live this long and I know so many who have died .

Each day is a gift.

Today my son called and told me his oldest son, a sophmore, has decided to go out for wrestling. His twin brothers have been doing it for five or six years already. They all three are lifting weights and such and are impressive specimen. He is 180 # now as a sophmore. When I was that age I weighed about 115. What?

The twins are almost two years younger and are about 160 or so. The only problem is the twins struggle to keep out of trouble at school and may struggle to get into college.

They all are taller than me now...5' 8 before sinking.

I know a lot of wealthy people who say they make their own luck.

I ask them how can it be luck if you make it?

I once figured out how to cheat a slot machine. Everyone said I was lucky. Nope, it was all math.

That streak of luck didn't last but a week or so. The Casino noticed some of their machines were paying out too much and changed the math.

Well, if you get up each day and work toward a goal every day when you achieve it you feel lucky even though it would not have happened without consistent effort.

The best way to be lucky is to prepare yourself to achieve it and work toward it each day. When you achieve it you still feel lucky even though without the constant perseverance it never would have happened.

Walking down a street in NYC last week saw what I thought was a 5$ bill blowing down the sidewalk. Turned out to be a $50.

Most days I'm glad I'm alive.

But somedays there are so many aholes around that i think it might be more peaceful the other way. So many have forgotten the meaning of ' being human '.

Drugs usage and problems are increasing in north Texas. Virtually no jail time or prison time anymore. One local woman has been arrested 12 times and keeps getting off completely or just given probation.

One good thing locally is Brookshire's grocery frequently has 1/2 off on many items including produce and meats.
