Calling all Geeks: 123 Cruise Control Rebuild Kits?

Are there any electronic whizzes (sorry about the geek comment) out there who have rebuilt the cruise control amps from a 123 or similar diesel?

I ask because I just had one done for $125 bucks, which was reasonable, and I wanted to try to do another one myself. I took apart my recently repaired one and noticed a total of about five or six common electronic components were replaced. That's it.

Since I have an extra, I'm willing to experiment. Although I've done electrical repairs with solder before, I know nothing about identifying the correct components. One thing I do know is that even if I replaced every resistor, diode, capacitor, etc. in on the circuit board, it would still cost me peanuts compared to shelling out another $125.

So, the million dollar question is: does anyone have a parts list or know of a kit to rebuild this thing?

If I can order the parts, I can replace them easily enough.

If you post a good picture of the insides of the one which was fixed I am sure we can do a good job of identifying the components...use plenty of light so we can see the color bands on the resistors, etc....

Another thought - since you already have it opened up (and the warrenty tags are busted) you may be able to just take it to Radio Shack (or an electronics supply house) and match them up. It is not too hard to determine electronic components such as these if you have the guide/instructions on how to read them.

Tried that...

Did someone say warranty? Ha! This thing's warranty expired some time during the Reagan administration. But as far as identifying the parts, Radio Shack wasn't much of a help.

Unfortunately, Radio Shack isn't the geek store it used to be, concentrating instead on general consumer-oriented goods such as computers, cell phones and stereos. The clerks there know very little about electronics at all. I next went to a local suppier of electronic components, and even he had trouble identifying some of the parts.

I'll see if I can get a decent digital photo to post. Other than that, a pc board layout diagram would be great to identify most of the parts, if anyone knows where to find something like that.
