Ok everyone, Listen up.

First, its ok for others to ask him if he has checked basic things, and probe him for information.

If you are a tech and need more specific information, you can tell him look, tell me this information, and I can start to assist you. And you can do it in a nice, non sarcastic or rude way.

How hard is it to be nice when helping someone, my mechnic, if I told him event he most simplest of information, he would probe me with questions to find out more information, he wouldn't make sarcastic remarks, or be unhelpful.

Regardless of this being free, there are many people who do not know about cars, don't know how to describe things, and are just looking to learn. You can't get down on people for wanting to learn, you have to help them learn, by helping them learn how to give more information, so answers can be made.

I am not a tech, but many times, based on my readings from people with knowledge on this site, and with my own research and DIY work, When people need help, I at least convey them knowledge I have learned that may help their problem. No one told him to replace any parts, mere to check them to see when they were last replaced, or if they were good as preventative measures.

Lets all realize that people are only trying to help.

Alon

Let's help him out!

Ashman,

Can you move this to the SL Forum, he might get better results there and also by employing the "search" function his problem may be there already. Additionally there is a plethora of SL knowledge in the forum.

Let's help him out!

Thanks Ashman! You put that very well.
As for the "free help" issue, I can't add up the $$$ I've been saved by the help I've recieved at this forum from others, and would like to feel I've helped others to save. If that isn't our friends point of being here, well, maybe other horizons would be better for him.

he did post a copy in the SL forum a while back as I suggested earlier on in the thread, but nobody responded to it. I would just suggest he do a search.

1973 450sl rough idle

Well guys thanks for all the spirited discussion. I'm still clueless as to whats the problem but suggestions about ambient temperature my be helpful to techs. The temp had been roughly 50F and no problem once engine is hot . I will try another mechanic. A co-worker suggests its the cold start valve . He claimed he owned a 350sl /1972 and he resolved the problem by replacing the cold start valve. Thanks to all.
