Currently, I do not own any guns. That said, it is on my "to do" list to get a concealed carry permit, and a pistol to carry. I also want a shotgun for home security.

Law enforcement is a "clean up" operation only due to response times.

Mine's a few years old (Mobilchokes), but I ended buying most of the Briley chokes for my needs. Then it was the decelerator pad and a pair of Decot's.

If you are ever near Atlanta, let me know and we can hit Tom Lowe Shooting Grounds (next to the old Olympic facility) for a few rounds of 5-stand

It's a deal

Had the Mobilchokes on a 391 and was perfectly happy with them. I'm not really at the level to notice a difference, I guess, and the SP is a totally different animal. Heard nothing but good things about the Brileys.

I see you're a DC native. I live in MD and shoot at PG County. If you're ever back up this way, let me know!

Our of curiosity, and since I haven't been an NRA member in a couple decades, has anybody ever looked into the crime rate among NRA members?

I'd bet a six pack of cold beer that their crime rate is way below the general population. Politicians love correlation statistics to pass laws and such, so in the interest of science and good policy, I think if NRA members are more law abiding than the greater population we should require the population to either be members or buy several guns.

Botnst
Botnst excellent point! I don't know about NRA members but in Michigan 25,000 concealed weapons permits have been issued over the last two years and there has not been 1 single incident involving legal owners.

Travmonster: What you are talking about is a S & W 500, which shoots .500 magnum cartridges. Makes a .50 Action Express shooting Desert Eagle look like a Walther PPK in 7.65x25.

I dont own right now, but I will in a week or two. I am planning on getting a Czech Mauser, which shoots 8mm.

I am also the new webmaster for the Arkansas Rifle & Pistol Association. The site is being tested at http://comp.uark.edu/~dmgill . We are the NRA-recognized state club for Arkansas.

Between you and me, after having heard what I have at http://www.thehighroad.org about the NRA, I have my doubts about investing in the NRA. Its still good in concept, but it seems to waiver in some of its standings. Gun Owners of America, now there is a no-holds-barred gun-rights organization!

Here in Old Europe, very few guns around, although there's lots of violence. Don't know anybody that has one, even for sports. Very hard to get 'm aswell.

It is only thanks to the NRA that our freedom to own guns has been preserved.
I may not like what you say but I will defend your right to say it.
There are many in this country who are actively trying to errode our freedom. We are very lucky to have an orginaztion like the NRA thats fights so hard to preserve our freedom.
If you like gun's and like freedom we enjoy in this country it is our duty and a responsiblity to support the NRA. Besides it is just a much safer place when responsible citizens are armed.
More often than not when someone does'nt like the NRA it is because they have been brainwashed with liberal media crapola.
