What does "TLC" stand for?

Dear friends:

When people talk about a troublesome car, they say something like "This car needs a TLC". Could someone tell me what "TLC" actually stands for? Thanks.

Best regards,

Eric

lol

Someone should make a revitalizing fuel additive and name it TLC. Think of how many inadvertant product plugs it would get every day!

Just gotta give it a lil' TLC ... fuel additive.

Actually, When a seller mentions a vehicle needing TLC in an ad, it REALLY means,

"I care so little for this car, that I have neglected every part possible, not just the big stuff"

or

"When I trashed this car, I was very thorough."

Hi friends:

How about "R&R"? Is it "Remove and Replace/repair"?

Mike,

At my cinical age not much strikes me as funny, but that strikes me as funny. I've got to copy your def to my note pad. The sad part is that I think you are right on the money. Also most people have a distorted view as to what the word PRISTINE means.

Eric,

Most people think R & R means what you stated. If you go to have a transmission shop to have your trans replaced and they charge you the cost of the parts plus R & R, you may be getting cheated, because R & R means to REMOVE AND REINSTALL. They remove your trans and put it back in. A properly written work order should say REPLACE. Hope that clears it up.

Rsbiosomethingorother,

I have one question for you. Did you put a flag out 3 years ago on Veteran's Day or did you just buy one made in China since 911? When I see a guy going down the road with 2 big flags flying from the back of his pickup, only one thing comes to mind. There goes a man who always wanted to be in a parade, but he never got a chance.

Since you asked,

My Mother, Father 3 brothers, myself, Grandfathers, Great Grandfathers have served our country. My brothers, grandfathers and myself have served in combat. My brothers rank O-2 and 2 O-6s my father was O-6 and a O-8 grandfather. I'm a disabled vet.

What parade were you in?

Think before you speak.

RS,

Sounds like you come from a long line of zeros. You mentioned zero 2, zero6, etc. Autozen is short for Autozentral which is German. I'm sorry to hear that you are a disabled vet. You made the extreme sacrifice for your government. You notice I said government. When I was 17 I enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War. In my later and more enlightened years I have come to realize that war is created to protect the interests of the wealthy. If we were so interested in the people of Iraq, why did we cordone off the oil wells and let the museums be looted? . Bush is confident there are weapons of mass destruction, because more than likely US arms dealers sold them. Our country has a very tarnished reputation in the world ,and in my opinion, it is deserved. I travelled through countries like Turkey during Vietnam and found only warm caring people. It is our government that is screwed up and in control because we have relinquished power. How many Americans choose to spend several hours to read all the ballot issues and make informed decisions. We do not have a democracy in this country. We have a two party system. PACs like the AMA stuff a hundred grand in the pockets of both Demo and Rep party candidates to keep everyone else out.

Thanks helping me make my point. Although you attempted to insult my family it means nothing to me coming from you.

Have a nice day.
