w116 om628-29 swap?
Some of the enthusiast I know recently asked me to do this job. He wants both worlds here and asked me if he could swap a om628-29 in a old w116 280se. Since I never worked on a w116 wonder if it fits.

Engine bay is fairly wide on the 116, it accommodated the 6.9L and the 116/117 V8s so I'd think you'd be okay on space. The OM628 fit in the G-wagon which has a fairly narrow engine bay.
My real question is engine management. How do you plan to control it? I think you'll get bogged down in systems integration issues long before you run into packaging issues.

Probably a full standalone ECU, Electronic speedometer through ECU SPD signal (adjustable). so I can bypass the immobilizer. I think I will use a 6spd off an E220 CDI.
