I will miss his expert knowledge but not nearly as much as I will miss his unflagging good nature. After every phone call, I extended a sincere invitation to visit me at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. where I promised to show him some special things - in the spirit of friendship and as a way of returning the many favors he did for me. He said that he would take me up on it when he had time, and was ever in Washington. I now extend the invitation to you. Thanks for your note and sharing your dad with all of us. Mark Conner
Mark! My dad told me about you! He really thought you were a spectacular guy and told me about his invitation to D.C. He wanted to visit you but he never wanted to leave his work. I was always trying to get him over here to Washington but it was hard for him to even take a couple days away from that phone and computer of his. He took his work so seriously. That work ethic was something he taught me and also JOY: Jesus first, others second, yourself last. That was my dad, and he loved it!

Just a quick note to say I have only needed a few parts, but speaking to Phil was always a pleasure.
While I am a bit younger, it is that same sense of goodness coming from him that keeps me upbeat and helps to enable me to pass those good qualities on to our kids. His goodness is being passed on to others, even if they don't know it.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Please be assured that it is felt by many here.

So early indeed

With deepest sympathy. He will be missed. Was always nice to speak with Phil. Peace to his family.

I love that... may have to use it sometime. Absolutely right.

So sorry to hear about your loss... Phil's number has been in my cell phone for many years now and no matter how busy things got, I can't ever remember waiting more than half an hour for an answer to my questions. Beyond "customer service", I could always tell that he believed in making things right; that being known as a fair player was his main goal. That speaks volumes.

I'll look forward to thanking him in person someday. Meanwhile... may he rest in peace, and if we (the forum, and myself personally) can be of any use to the family in any way, please say so.

Michael S.
